Well! There was no country named India when Mohammed Ghazni looted Surat 17 times. The entire country was ruled by petty kings who were more worried about securing their thrones than assisting others (a trend that’s prevalent even today among our politicians).
It's true that India has never invaded another country. But historically, India was plundered by almost every nation in the world because we were too selfish to care for others and we were betrayed by our own men time and again. Even during the days of Alexander, an Indian king sided with him to fight against Porus. How about that? Today our nation is brimming with such whimps who just can't think beyond themselves.
It is a sad state of affairs that US now comes to India and preaches peace, while arming Pak to the teeth and our spineless leaders suck up to them big time. In Iron Lady's time (Indira Gandhi) the US would have been told to get lost (FO) on any matter concerning Indo-Pak.
Well said Desibabu! Not just play a different tune - it is the Americans turn to play doormat. It is funny to watch the superpower's top honchos the likes of Gates and Clinton suck up to the Pakis. No matter how hard they press - all they get is stonewalling from the Pakis.
It is to India's good fortune that Pak has pressed the self-destruct button - one of the few items that really works in Pak.
Forget about retaliating, India is not even close to the basic step of cutting off all relations including trade with Pak. On the contrary we had the 'Aman ki Asha' recently which advocates that India and Pak should talk as we are brothers.
I don’t understand why we can’t be brothers with say Japan, or Germany, or Israel. I am sure these countries have done some good things to India as opposed to Pak.
From trying to foster a brotherly relationship to retaliation is a really long shot and wishful thinking of the normal Indian. Secular India is not in a mood for any confrontation as that amounts to too much responsibility and risk taking. Instead bowing before an enemy in the name of peace and basking under the assumption that we are men of peace is an easier option. And especially so considering the accolades our Netas would get from the west for what they call 'restraint' which in actuality is incompetence
Agreed on all the comments about Pak. But remember one thing You do not take fight with someone who does not have anything to loose. Pak is almost broke, in total chaos and in complete Anarchy. If India pushes too far they will not hesitate to drop couple nuclear weapons even if that means total wipe out of Pak from the map of the world. There is not much hope to look forward at least at this stage.
Biggest threat to India is China. And Here India does not have guts to confront them directly, for that matter no other country now has that. What China is doing to harm India? you will find tonnes of articles.

Interesting how all users have certain opinions - unfortunately none of which work for India. Current strong financial landscape that india breathes due to foreign business based investments will wipe out in a minute should there be a 'hint' of war !

With both being nuclear powers and both being backed by US ( as our friend US is friends with India but hey .. PAK is US's strong Ally on the war of terrorism !! lol - cant you all see whats happening here !?
This is the same old equation that US has played since years to try and make these nations go at WAR - PS just for all those who really think US loves to back India or Pak, I doubt you are thinking it correctly - WAR in indo pak region brings more benifit to US at this point ! and by issues statements like what op has in the original post - I guess they are just provoking them both to get head to head.
Bottom line: WARs in immediate neighborhoods is always more pain than gain. EASY TO SAY "WHEN IS INDIA GOING TO DO SOMETHING !!!" wondering if people with such comments have ever visited a WARZONE ? wondering if they have seen scores of people dead and infrastructures collapse altogether that took 10s of years to be built !! wondering if they realize how it would feel if they get some news about their homes and families being killed in WAR ? wondering if they would even be able to realize how much chaos it will be for all the people who are already fighting a WAR every day against lack of water and food in India !
The world is beyond the stone age wars guys. How many nations have really gone to way in the last 10 years other than our bold DYING USA ? you can see the results in their debt statments lol. Its in no ones interest at this point to pull out guns and start shooting ! no one has time, money and underlying long term benefits however what is going be should they go to war will be destruction.
Pak has their own problems and i think they are more busy with those then to put a little bit of what they have into introducing terorism in India. Regardless there is an old saying that one should never underestimate the opponent. The people at the diplomatic positions are not taking a decision to go to was as that will not only cost generations of recovery but will also not provide immediate results as terrorism is the new black ! its here to stay.
Long story short - or may be not so short, its time to grow out of differences that were created at the time of friggin partition. Standing untied and working toghether to fix the problems will breed more results than acting like REAL STUPID and pull out our F16s to start bombing each other. Remeber, India is full of poverty too !!! by going to WAR things wont get any better for the already struggling 50% + population there !

MM and congi are pimps selling Indian interest. Google L&T's CEO statementabout how China is killing Indian manufacturing and MM and Congi are actively supporting that. Only under extreme provocation a smart CEO will make such a public accusation. India keeps exporting Iron ore to China and keeps importing finished steel! MM is touted by ELM as non corrupt. If this is not proof of his corruption, then I do not know what can be expected.
MM will part with Kashmir like Nehru let go Tibet.
