I had read on Red Flag Deals forum that there are 3-4 very successful online eye glasses vendors who make glasser per prescription and the cost is $50 -

If I buy glasses from India - would the costs be reimbursed by the Insurance companies here? I would assume the bills will be in Indian Rupees.
Since my eye glasses were paid by myself, i ordered them online,
first time used http://www.globaleyeglasses.com/ bought one titanium rimless frame and other spare plastic total including glasses frame and shipping came to 50 USD. shipped from Delhi.
six month back broke my rimless during fishing (stepped on it) ordered another rimless from http://www.eyebuydirect.com/ total including glasses frame and shipping came to 34 USD.
Deal yeah....if you know how to order, you should know your PD which is distance between pupil ask your Ophthalmologist to measure it during eye examination , go to walmart or any other store, try frame, note the three measures written on the frame side, or the website will educate you about frame measures.
its not that hard, try doing it once by ordering a spare glasses.
I showed my titanium rimless glasses to the store SE at steels/young , they valued it $300 just for the frame,
Just smart with my money,
Website also have return policy like any other offline store,
1-Go to Next Optical in Malton. They can make you good eye glass with low end Designer in CAD 200. I am using them since last 5 years . Quite good. BTW cost of designer frame is same in India only glasses are cheap in India. No Need to order anything from India, If your Insurence pays upto 200 , you can get good eyeglasse with frame in India.
2- Regarding remiursement for Glasses purchased in India, your Insurence will pay for them only if your coverage is Global ( Means not Canada Specific)

Thanks to all those who have responded .. Thats the pleasure of being on CD ..... I guess online purchases are approved by the Insurance and the websites help you in ordering frames and checking / knowing dimensions as well .... 3 of the major ones are clearlycontacts , zenni and 39dollars ... They also take returns just like retailers ...
I am providing the link to the RFD Thread ( 100 + pages and too exhaustive ) for everyone's benefit ... Will also check the stores advised by CD s ...

Pasting from the link below :
Goggles4u
http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=49...ink=&afftrack= - frames&lenses are $26. Free worldwide shipping.
Optical4less
http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=19...ink=&afftrack= - frames&lenses from $29 + $8 shipping to Canada.
39 Dollar Glasses
http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-749547-8351120 - frames&lenses from $39 + $8 shipping to Canada.
Zenni Optical
http://www.zennioptical.com - frames&lenses from $19 + $9 shipping to Canada.
Quick note: Feb 2009. I've been getting a lot of complaints on the EGRR site about people not having received their orders from Zenni. I'd probably recommend hanging off on them for now. I'll update this when everything gets sorted out one way or the other.
ClearlyContacts.ca
http://www.clearlycontacts.ca - frames&lenses from $38. Canadian company. They used to sell contacts only, but have recently extended to sell glasses as well. Total price showing up was $49.85, so I'm assuming it's $11.85 for shipping.
There might be some duty, as Zenni and 39dollar are both in the US, Goggles4u is in Pakistan, and Optical4less in China. Edit: I and many others have not been charged duty, as prescription glasses appear to be exempt. Also, clearly contacts obviously shouldn't have any duty since they're Canadian-based.
