My opinion....
The content of material in Indian education is very good.
The method of learning is inferior, though. Rote memorization is emphasized as the primary learning, at least at most institutions, which in my mind impairs conceptual learning.
Also, the emergence of numerous "mom and pop" colleges (ex: engineering colleges) have allowed many to become engineers. But the quality has suffered as there is an acute shortage of good teaching professionals. Plus the private management perpetrates so much politics (with profit as the primary motive) that in turn filters down and affects the quality of education at these places.
I sincerely wish these deficiencies are remedied over the years.

I really consider myself lucky that I studied from India. I strongly believe that Indian education is the best (At least it helps to sharpen ur brain at school level). I don't know other subjects, but if u want to become an engineer or doctor then India is the place to study.
I don't want to be discussing or comparing India Vs NA education but in my experience schooling from India and university from NA is the best education one can get.
On the other hand, i think the delhites will know this place, between Sonipat and Karnal, there's a area I've forgotten name of where the biggest University with 13 colleges (I think its named after Gandhi family) is coming up, some 30,000 students (the aim is to get more foreign students) can study over there. Real estate is booming in there, Parsvnath, DLF and other builders are in construction of gated communities, I've seen it and bought a piece of land too via Parsvanth. India is promoting education tourism, this is totally a new area for economical growth and the plans are full on. Anyone who visits Delhi and travels to Punjab can stop over after Sonipat and see the area being developed. They are bringing metro in there too, sorry it sounds like I'm over excited for this but yes I was very impressed on what I saw, I hope the whole thing starts fast.

I have been trying to get my Mumbai University Certificates attested by the Controller of Examinations since the last eight months after paying the fees of Rs. 8000. An elderly person has made more than twenty trips to the Mumbai Controller of examinations office but the Controller of examinations has not yet signed the papers inspite of all the paperwork etc, being submitted several months back.
Over here at Canada, the education system is so much more quick and efficient, just like everything else is so much more easier to get done here. Listening to some Indian people, I almost believed that India was changing, but my first hand experience shows that it is just a publicity myth.
I think we have 2 points here which are 2 different reasons one educates .
One is for life - for becoming a better individual personality wise , to develop better communication skills and learning soft values ....
Another and prhaps a reason which overtakes the first is the capacity education provides to earn bread .. The same reason why Science streams are preferred to Humanities . Because it gets you a better job and earnings .
On a one to one basis , comparing the better ones to the better ones , Indian education system as such may not be better than N American but it produces better results undoubtedly due to competition and the environment and the culture to study being prevalent in India .
In Canada / US , one can survive easily by studying Humanities / music etc since resources are available for sustaining life ... Whereas in India , if you do that you will perhaps end up being a clerk / peon ... because of population pressure and the pressure of 'survival of the fittest ' ...
I was once arguing with a person that IIT may not produce the best of researches / patents .... what not as compared to UofT but an average IITian is smarter / more intelligent / will produce more result / will earn more than an average UofTian .... its the impact of the environment .
And that goes for the better educational institutions in India as well ....... the segements being so far wide and apart that the worse ones should not be talked about here .
