You say I am not a practical person. You probably don't know that I have reached where I am, through sheer perseverance, focus, and determination. You will probably never understand what this means.

As for your being practical, this country is too bad, too corrupt, too backward to be reformed by people like you. I understand your zeal (should I say gripe, gripe gripe?).......... but you won't get far with reforming this country. "We do need more like you", for sure!

On the other hand, why don't you head home and do "seva" for the motherland. That would be better than complaining. One small consolation - there are others who fervently share your belief that "everything about this country is rotten".......... yet they live here (like you said, because "you pay taxes";).

I am glad the federal government has woken up, At least at this time they will allow only those who qualify in the 38 categories they have chosen. For some time, there will be lesser gripers!............ but yes, you can continue your crusade.

Honestly, I feel sorry for your misery.

Yes, Canada will continue to bring people like u here who will contribute not to get the people united.
I also feel sorry for you. Remember when India fought for freedom for years there were few people who were aligned towards British rulers. British rulers liked those people. But u know what we call those people today.

As much as we love our freedom of expression, I find that a certain group uses this forum to do nothing but incessantly complain. I adore the moderators here, who bear the pain of getting to hear the same thing, day after day.......... None of the gripers have any practical solutions to the so called "ills in Canadian society".

I only wish we used this forum to help each other rather than engage in a fight that leads us nowhere. As moderators, I am sure you can limit the number of messages on a particular topic.

My two cents.

I think we should filter out the people based on the following
1. No limit on those who talk in favor of this country, so that they can continue to praise.
2. Put limit on those who are in search of finding the solution. We do not want to try to find the solution. Just accept what we got here.

Sorry. I actually meant Auto workers under the CAW working in the big 3 or big 5 for $35 + an hour being just 12 th grade. Abviously, if you look, there might be very little VM's working there. why were VM's not given the oppertunity? was it b'cos of very few people applying or was it b'cod preference is given to Non VM's? Can some one guess or explain?

Given that an automobile mechanic makes $ 35 an hour, TK could become one, instead of this ranting incessantly!

Why should I?
Non VM's make around $ 40 an hour and it is a office job with AC? Am I a fool to take up a sutomobile Mech job for $ 35 an hour? I am sure that there are a lot of VM's that Canada has recruited through immigration to fill up those posts.

Peace by TK

Have you been inside a factory floor? I have. Examples would include Ford, Chrysler, Major employer in Guelph, tool shops in Windsor area, etc.

What I have observed is there are people of numerous ethnicities - in other words a significant non-Cdn born population, including a good population of the so called VMs from South Asia. I have had to spend time on the floor speaking with them. Most had difficulty speaking good english and I had to adapt myself since it makes it hard to understand in the factory noise. Although, my experience with them was nothing less than positive.

So, yes, as long there are job openings, opportunities appear to exist for everyone alike.

This was the suggestion which I gave where I worked and it saved two people from laying off.

Solutions are there and workable but u have to get united to make it work.

Thanks for trying to offer solution for the first time!

However, your solution seems to be something like - one size fits all - just becuause it worked in a situation you mentioned, you think it will work everywhere. Infact I think it will work the other way:

1. Already, many doctors from Canada shift to USA because they make more money there and have a better life style. It is not really very difficult for them to settle in US and get work if they really want to. So reducing their salaries would most probably put the pressure of migration to US after having studied in Canada.

2. By reducing salaries, people lose motivation for that profession sometimes (not always). Many parents in our good India advise their children to take up a profession not because it interest the child or is a good profession otherwise, but simply because it pays more! So while a pay freeze for a few days/years can work for survival, but reduction of salaries could most probably reduce the charm for that profession.

3. One thing I believe in - if you pay a higher reward to a person in a particular job than he can get in any other job, he will make it a point to keep doing the job well, becuase he would be afraid of being kicked out of the job if he does not perform well and then the other job will not pay him that well. However, if all the jobs paid almost equally, a person would not care much - and he will know that he can get almost the same amount from some other source if he changes his job.

For a profession like doctors, we all need the best - nothing less. In other professions, less than best can do, but not in medical. So paying them well will keep them on their toes and make them perform well.

BY THE WAY, THIS POST WAS ABOUT SCHOOLS AND TEACHING........can we stick to suggestions in that area?

I think quality comes from the passion and not from the money alone. If u have passion and really like ur profession u will less care about the money (It does not mean that u will not need it as money is the driving factor for better lifestyle)

We have so many doctors come here as immigrants. If not all, most of them have well education and experience. This means if the person is a doctor and well educated (From rec. university) and good experience that means he will definitely be above 35 or in 40s. Instead of recognizing their skills, Canadian govt. force them to redo the study which means spending another 6-7 years before he can practice which they refuse(Nobody will like to study again at that age) and start doing odd jobs which kills the doctor. I think doctors are killed here not elsewhere [From the movie "Ek doctor kee maut"]

Truly speaking, such kind of people need 1-2 years of extensive training to put them into entry level so that they can do their job(At least they can give flu shots when a panic like H1N1 happens). I am sure that a doctor will be ready to do job in his own profession at much competitive rates rather than becoming a tax/truck driver.

e.g. if u r offered office job or factory job [Both have same pay], u will opt for office job. If u understand this line u will understand my solution else another quote "Main naa maanu" [I like no solution]
