Agree completely.
He is an American citizen, did all his education/research work in US. So, it's basically another American achievement and not India's. It's funny how Indian media is too quick to own the achievements of the Indians who are foreign citizens and born/brought in West. Just like going ga-ga over Bobby Jindal, Kalpana Chawla, Kal Penn, Parminder Nagra, and a few others.
Yes! Indians across the globe must rejoice only to the fact that he was born in India and did his Bachelor's Degree there.
Just my opinion.
We have had a whole 15 page thread on Sunita Williams ..... whereas she does not know how to speak an Indian language .. Indians have gone gaga over her going to space ..... some kind of colonial hangover perhaps .

Hmm...i would be happy as well though they r not indian citizens, but they will be recognized as indo-...
btw.. i have seen in news about few other britishers info who got nobel prize, happen to be born in india...
so i guess indian media is rejoicing the birth place effect in achieving the nobel prize..
PS: Happens to be tamilians are the best and intelligent people compare to the other parts of india...

M Kannuri's observation is not a joke but a very serious one. The India media is celebrating and the only other guy celebrating is the Scientific Advisor to GOI Dr.T.Ramasami, Ex-Director, CLRI , Chennai.
The people who else are celebrating are from Baroda as Dr.Venky did his B.Sc in Baroda University.
In his birth place of Tamilnadu(eventhough Chidambaram) except the newspaper of Dinamalar(Brahmin owned newspaper) nobody else is celebrating.
You know why ?.
Also do you know other Nobel winners who have come from Southern India are also not celebrated like Sir.C.V.Raman, Dr.S.Chandrasekar or now Venky ?.
Hmmm ! because they are TAMBRAMS. These are Aryans who migrated from areas near current Iran/Iraq and through Peshawar in Pakistan then to northern part of India and now to southern part of India in the last 3000 to 5000 years.
If you do not trust me then please watch the "Story of India" as shown on our own TVO on Fridays. It is also available on the internet. He has given clearcut evidence that how there is more commonality between the Indian Brahmin to that of the Iran/Iraq and also now Pakistani and nothern Indian then the son of soil of Southern India the Dravidian.
Hence NO celebration. I do not know whether there will be any future Venky's as they will not be able to get admission in colleges due to "Reservation" policy of Tamil Nadu.

Not true at all.
It is more of a Aryan Dravidian concept.
Aryan (I belive) navigated the cyber pass and settled down in Hndhusthan. They were meat eating people and they took over dravidians and interchanged their habits (like being vegetarians) etc...
Aryans (Bhramins, Pandit's , Iyengars and the like) are very clever due to their culture, genes, Yoghurt / Rasam eating habits and memory power ( high memory power due to slokam recital / momorisation etc. from a very young age). That is why you find people like Rabindranatha Tagore, Nehru, Ghandhi, CV Raman, Venky, Bose being very clever.
Aryan were the cream of the society and took the prime jobs (like being MD, owners of companies, IAS, IPS, IIT passouts) before the dravidans realised that they were being skimmed off and brought reservation polices to acheive employment / educational equity.
On the other hand, Dravidians donot share the above and they may be kings in other aspects (except studies and inventions) like M Karunanithi, Parthiban, AR Rehman etc...
