Hello All,

I have valid H1B visa and was in US till recently as a software programmer. Due to my job constraints I had to come back to India. Presently, I am searching for any projects in US. At the same time, I saw this ad about migrating to Canada in 6-12months. This was totally new to me and after further research, got to know I was eligible.
Now, my Questions are:
1. I hope in 6-12 months things would be on the brighter side and job market should be good. Can some one apprise me of the situation or what they think on this? Do you think, it’s worth spending money on this PR thing (I did like the lifestyle in US and expect a similar one at Canada)?
2. Say, I get my PR in 6-12 months, should I have to land immediately or can I get some time, stay here in India, and search for a job in Canada and then move.
3. How tough is it to get software jobs in Canada for a7yrs work ex guy?

Thanks for your valuable suggestions in advance.

Regards.

don't heed to the ad's and loose your heard earned money, since you are in India you have to apply from delhi office, it will take min 5years for PR processing

Thanks for your reply Quest.
But Since I have H1B visa, wouldnt this make any faster?
Then what is the difference between a normal application and a skilled labour application?

Your H1b Visa is a work permit visa for USA, which is a different country.

Having H1b Visa will not speed up your Canada immigration when you are in India. If at all, it will probably delay your application since you need to get a police clearance certificate from USA in addition to police certificate in India

So basically, If I am in US it(immigration process) will be 6-12 months and from India it might take longer.

Since my job demands me to be in India for some part of the year, can I still go ahead with the process and get it within 12months time?
OR do I have to be in US from the time I apply till i get the PR?

I am totally new to this process and any suggestions or help would be great.
I need to get this info understood clearly and plan my future accordingly.

Thanks for all your help.

regards.

It's wrong to say that somebody applying from New Delhi is taking 4-5 years to get his PR. After , the new priority list of 38 occupations was released, people applying from New Delhi under these criteria are getting their PR within one year.

Check this link for people posting their PR tracking status - 2 ppl who applied under the new rules go their PR within 189 days and 214 days.

Thanks much for this info.
This is exactly what I heard and got interested in this process. Since I fall in one of the skilled labour category under fast track process, it should take 6-12 months.
My only question or rather confusion was - Is this dependant on my H1B visa or is it irrespective of that.
I suppose, the answer is - It is NOT dependant on my Visa rather on my nature of work and other points.
Please correct me if i was wrong.
Again, Thanks all for your help and support.

regards.
