Well,
Pls find my logic what you should be doing.
Let's say: Cost of Immigration - Rs. 3,00,000 (Cdn$ 7,000)

By law if you come to canada, once every 2 year and also file your income tax (even if $0 income), you can continue your PR.

I believe you have daughters doing 12th standard and other doing her std. ninth. So, what I suggest you to

1) GO for immigration, visit canada with full family, complete all formalities and get legal status. Have some C/O address in canada and some one to support to receive all your documents or mail and send it back to you.

2) At proper timing, for example your daughter => She can start her graduation here. Ask her to appear for TOFEL or IELTS in India, so that she can get her admission in Canada easily.
The benefit and payback of being PR is
Annual cost of education for foreign national (range) = 8,000~12,000
Annual cost of education for canadian national (range) = 4,000~8,000
This is just tution fee.

3) So, if you spend something to get an PR, think it as an investment for your children not for you. You and your wife keep working in India till you retire or your children get settled in their individual professional career.

In my opinion,
=> Canada's education is good after grade 10. There is lots of scope for people who get university education up here in Canada. Canada has lots of reputed universities like
For Engg => University of waterloo
For Laws and Business => Western universtiy, London
For any others => University of Toronto

=> Also, if your age is below 30 you can come down here, take little risk or may upgrade (local education) yourself in first 3 year and after that you will have golden opportunity

=> If your age is above 32 and you are earning more than Rs.15,000 / month in India I think it will be wrong choice for you to be in Canada. In Canada hardly less than 3% of new immigrants gets job in their own field, others lands up in survival jobs or change their career.

Best of luck to you for your future

Hi All,

I feel the 1st inning start at 23-24 that goes till 30-32 years. Person try to establish himself in a partiocular feild. One of the Best time to immigrate if one wants. But at this time he requires some of his parents support in most of the cases. Not only money wise but also emotional wise Offcource thier are exceptions . If got chance a person can easliy get adjust in new enviorment abroad.

Second inning starts at 30 -32 . The person is well establihed amd have prove his worthness to the socity. He is certainly more independent in taking his descions( i am talking in indian conditions). But then he also have greater resposibility of his wife plus one/two small kids. Through kids edcucation/carrer too are not a problem this time. His responsibityy if any of his sibling to get married etc are hopefully over. His parents get retire are about to get retire. They too are immidety his reponsibility if god forbids some health problems have come up.
So Guts are required to think of long cherish dream to immigrate now to new country.
On positive note I feel since person have connections in the socity so if one do get fails he can certainly come back and start the life where he left. This coming back options is not possible for the people who left at 23-24 of age without working here. Any way this is not that good option that anybody wants.
In the case of Daniel_A , i guess he had played well his 1st inning. Even in the second inning he have passed half of the time. His kids are on verge of starting carrers. certainly not a good time to immigate now. Sir I wonder why don't u thing long back . Or atleast in the beginning of ur 2nd inning .

goes till retirement. By this time his parenets have This retirement is something that can be defined by person to person.

By visiting once in every two years and filing up tax is not good enough to maintain PR status.Per new Immigration rule implemented after June 28,2002 you need to be physically in Canada at least 2 years in every 5 year period of time. After introducing PR card CIC can easily track how much time you actually staying in Canada so your logic won't work here

Thanks

I can give you a classic example of my friends Uncle, He was a renowned dentist in chandigarh, making big money and all settled with 2 daughters..Probably around the same age group of yours and suddenly some day he heard about the greenery of canada and decided to wrap up all his stuff and he moved to canada thinking he wud make big here as well...when he reached here he came to knew all the cons associated with getting into the same position..he had to study again and do all his homework the way he did in his med days..didnt work .and now he is working as a Insurance agent, not sure what he is making but he regrets his decision and its too late cuz he spent lot of time studying and till that time his kids went into schooling and now there is not much lookback for him to come back.

I am not trying to dissuade you from turning back on your decision but giving you a real time event, Economy is dampened these days for most of the countries(glad India is doing great) hence pls give triple thoughts on making any such decisions

I myself plan to move to Pune , i have few relatives there and its a great place to live, Anyhow if you finally decide to move here and plan to sell your house then do contact me:-)

Jai Hind!!

ashish30 & other to know about Pune
Pune, popularly known as the cultural capital of Maharashtra, is indeed many things to many people . To the young it is the city of opportunities; the historians value it for its rich past; the educationists revere it for its prestigious educational institutions and people from all walks of life and from different parts of the country like to settle here for its moderate climate and gentle life-style. It is also the city of the celebrated Aga Khan Palace, the esteemed National Defence Academy and the fascinating Film and Television Institute of India. Pune also has the rare honour of having the first Women’s University at Hingne instituted by Maharshi D.K. Karve. In its neighbourhood nestle the famous hill stations - Lonavala and Khandala. Its proximity to Mumbai, the Bollywood bastion, gives it an aura of the filmdom. Yet, Pune retains its peculiar ambience of Marathi theatre and traditional charm and manages to impress one with its determined individuality.

Geographically, Pune is situated on the Deccan Plateau that vouchsafed it a strategically important position. In the thirteenth century, Allauddin Khilji realised its military importance and captured it to consolidate his hold on the Deccan. In the 17th century, the rugged terrain with its awesome forts – Sinhagad, Purandar, Torna and Raigad – stood as a testimony to Shivaji’s daring exploits whereby he expanded his small fiefdom into an extensive kingdom. In the 18th century the mighty Bajirao Peshwa transferred the Maratha capital from Satara to Pune that gave it royal patronage and the little town developed rapidly as the Maratha power rose into a major political force. Pune came under the East India Company in 1818 after the battle of Koregaon. Later, the British proposed to transform it into their monsoon capital but instead developed it as a military town and renamed it Poona. The typical military ambience is still present in its Cantonment area, also called the Camp. Pune was the hub of political activity during the freedom struggle and it was here that Gandhiji with his wife, Kasturba, and others were imprisoned and kept in the Aga Khan Palace in 1942 when the Quit India Movement was launched.

The Aga Khan Palace is a great historical landmark of Pune. Situated in Yerwada on Pune-Nagar Road, the palace covers an area of 19 acres. Its Italian arches, spacious lawns, the picturesque setting and a pleasing colour-combination lend it a magnificence of its own. There are five halls in the palace. Pictures of the Indian Independence movement adorn the walls of the palace. Prince Aga Khan donated the palace to Gandhi Smarak Samiti in 1972 and since then it has housed a small museum with the articles used by Gandhiji and Kasturba. The memorial runs a Khadi Gramodyog Bhandar, Mahadev Chhapkhana, Rashtriya Mahila Sansthan and stitching classes.

In the heart of the city stands the Shaniwar Wada, the famous residential palace of the Peshwas built in 1736. The palace also enclosed within its walls the Mastani Mahal, especially built by Bajirao I for his mistress, the danseuse Mastani. One can have a glimpse of the replica of the glittering Mastani Mahal at the Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum.

With its collection of 20,000 objects divided into 40 sections, the museum is among the best in the world. There are attractive lamps, a large variety of nut-cutters, bronze and brass statues, paintings, musical instruments and wood-work items like huge carved doors. The museum enjoys international fame due to its splendid craft section devoted to the Indian women.

Temples and churches dot the Pune landscape. It is rom here that Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak started the 10-days’ Ganesh festival to generate awareness for India’s freedom. The other famous temples of Pune include the Dashbhuja Ganpati, the Saptshringi dedicated to Goddess Durga and the Parvati Pataleshwar Cave temple in Shivaji Nagar. Down the Moledina Road, one can find a red brick and trap stone structure in English-Gothic style, the famous Lal Deval, built in 1867 by David Sassoon. It is one of the finest synagogues of the country.

Another architectural site is the famous Pune University at Ganeshkhind. A large Italian-Gothic style structure, once the official residence of the Governor of Bombay during the monsoon, today hums with university students. Besides, Shinde Chhatri, the memorial to Mahadaji Shinde, the great warrior of the Peshwas, is another wonderful architectural site, a little away from the town. Also, Pune has a number of well-kept gardens. The Bund Garden, on the right bank of River Mula-Mutha, is just 2 km. from the railway station. The Bund was constructed by Sir Jamshedji Jeejeebhoy for providing water to the poor during the summer. Saras Bagh and Jijamata Bagh are the two other attractive gardens in the city.

For excursions one can visit Lonavala and Khandala besides the wonderful Karla caves. They are just 55 km. from Pune and 10 kms. from Lonavala. Bhaja, 59 km. away, has virtually undiscovered eighteen Buddhist caves of the 1st and 2nd century B.C. An excursion to the awe-inspiring forts of Sinhagad, Lohagad, Visapur, Shivneri, the birth place of Shivaji, and Sinhagad, where Tanaji Malusare, the lion-hearted Maratha, can also be undertaken. For bird-watching, a trip to Pashan Lake and for water sports like kayaking or windsurfing in the newly established MTDC’s Water Sports Complex is worth planning.

If one happens to travel by the city bus service, one may be jolted back by the conductor’s call “Simla-Simla” to involuntarily look out to ascertain how Shimla could be here, soon to realize that the metrological office that long back shifted from Shimla (then Simla) to Pune is still called “Simla office”. No trip to Pune would be complete without venturing into the narrow alleys of the old town to taste a sumptuous, typical Mahrashtrian thali. A tour of the Laxmi Road lands one in the midst of colour and gaiety of its myriad sari shops.

Today , Pune is no longer the somnolent, retired town. It combines the buzz of modernity, the vibrations of a metro, and the upmarket plush housing complexes, with the leisurely pace of life. But this has affected the city adversely too. While industries are springing up, the vanishing green cover is causing climatic changes. Besides, the life-lines of the city – the Mula and Mutha rivers – are clogged with waste matter. It is high time to take remedial measures to save the glory of the city.(PIB Features)
