Yeah we lost an ultra super maha Dada musician.
I remember the first time I saw him perform at Madison Square Garden in 1969. He was 10, or maybe just turned 11, and he came on first along with the rest of the Jackson 5 at around 7.30 pm 'cos they had to pack him off to bed before 8 pm!He performed ABC 123 slapping his thighs and dancing. First song of the Jackson 5 I grooved on.
After that came on the other heavies of that time of the Motown Label but Michael stole the show.
Last I saw him was after the BAD album came out in 1987. That concert was in Madrid in 1988 where he wowwed 70,000 fans.
Long way from '69 to 88 and what a trnasformation!
They say Madonna re-invents herself, but this Ustad was the one who really re-invented himself throughout.
A real Dadon ka Dada, Ustadon ka Ustad!
May he rest in peace.
And as the saying goes, if there is music in HEAVEN, they must have one HELL of a band!
Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Elvis the Pelvis, John Lennon, Jerry Garcia, Ustad Alla Rakha, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan (expired last week) etc.. and now Michael Jackson!
God, I still cant believe he is gone. What a shocker. He was one of the best performers of our times. What a talent. Hope he finds the peace in death that he never found on earth when alive.

Echoing the comments in here.
He truly was a great entertainer..i remember watching the 1985 grammys on DD..and was hooked to popular western music..MJ was at the forefront and will always be for me..I went to his concert in Bombay paying half my salary of my very first job ..he is an enigma and will always be..
From Beat it to Earth Song..as investpro put it a transition and re-invention..
he was often played on my radio shows in Bombay..
Will I miss him as a musician ?..Yes..coz i will always live with the question..what would he have given the music world if he were alive longer..
This was not a way for an icon like MJ to go..he simply got up and left us hanging

may his soul rest in peace. I am sure that he must have left lots of money for his sons and daughter.

Yes we are sad, but is it really shocking with the kind of news we have been hearing about him for the last several years. He is a genius wasted. Midway through his life, he did not know to age gracefully and fade away, may be because of people around him. For all the bad things that happened to him the credit goes to 'the great american way of life" and "the greatest nation on earth"

It is interesting and uncanny how many brilliant musicians have died in early age and in mysterious circumstances.
Many names come to mind - Elvis, Hank Williams, our own K.L. Saigal, and now MJ.
Neither of these made it past 50 - I think MJ lasted the longest.
I'm sure there are others.
There must be something in the genes that makes them brilliant yet messes them up inside.
