It would be really appreciated if we must stick to the original topic, instead of personal attacks as shown above. Please grow up guys!

My only intention is to bring up in light the practice of bringing the foreign IT professionals on visitor/business visa and use their low cost leverage against local professionals. Don’t you think it is illegal, unethical and a malpractice? There is no twist in the scenario I have explained in my previous post.

I work for an IT consulting company. We have offices in India. All the development work from here goes to our company in India. The Indian extension of our organization does just that. Now they do hire a lot of senior people but majority of them are junior that the senior guys have to mentor.

As of today, when an IT resource applies for a job in a company in India, it has become a norm for the resources to ask for "onsite oppurtunity" which means a short trip to US or Canada depending on where the parent company/client is located.

When the offshore team is engaged on a big project, some of the resources are brought here on training for a short period. It is a win-win situation. The offshore resources get the "onsite" experience they asked for and the clients get to see some of these offshore resources. On such assignments, the offshore resources are paid a daily stipend of $50 if they opt for the company to provide accomodation or $108 if they chose to find their own accomodation (relative's place, friend's place etc). These resources get their regular pay in India...

That is the reality I am aware of and work closely with.

So you see how one can take a legitimate operation such as this, give it a twist and make it seem like a scam...like the dumb and retarded OP?

I agree, a more probable scenario in most cases. Big companies(clients) do not risk engaging in illegal practices, and most IT opportunities in Canada are in big cos.

That doesn't mean work permit fraud is non-existent, maybe more prevalent in small/medium clients and that too on rare occasions(which country does not have immigration abuse?).

Folks, lets stop judging people based on looks(pot bellies, "filty people", cheap clothes, etc). Didn't we have a thread on racism in Canada/Australia and we were whining about it?

When we are judging other Indians, then so do the Citizens raised in Canada have every right to judge us by the same token. Just as we think some desi expats look like specimans, then they(Canadian born) have the same right to look at us in similar vein. Its all relative.

If somebody is unprofessional in the way they dress, then lets leave it to the company HR guys to sort them out.

I think if some of these Corporations who do such things can be complained against or if the matter can be brought up in the media ........... and if a few companies get booked , the others may fall shy of doing such tactics .

I was appalled at reading a post on CD which said that an unemployed Canadian PR met an Indian on WP / visit Visa and both had the same background and skills .

Local talent should be used first ... per the laws .

Whats the best way to complain against it ... Does anyone know ?

There is nothing dumb or retarded about the original post.
i am surprised that being in IT consulting you are not aware of this practice.
Your company may not be doing this but it is happening all around you, esp. in US and Canada.

If u go with the law, then It is easy to prove that local talent does not satisfy company requirements [ Or is it illegal to say like that? ]. I can say local engineers are less smart.

Things like this are not hidden from HR/Immigration officials, e.g. 300,000 people are entering into Canada every year and of those significant persons are engineers/doctors. Even we know that the current job market is so bad and that does not reduce the immigrants intake. Why can't the govt. totally ban that no IT/Engineer is allowed to immigrate unless their will be a demand. Only the local IT/Engineers will be given the opportunity first.

I am even more surprised that this isn't making news if it has any semblance of legitamacy to it. Don't you think? Or maybe one day it will be breaking news and will bring down the big corporations...till then it is what I said it is :)
