Me and my husband along with our 14 month old son are immigrating to Canada probably in July, 2009. This is our first time visit. We plan to land in Toronto and stay at Oshawa as we have some friends there.
My husband and I both have double masters degrees in Economics-one from India and one from US.We have worked as teaching assistants and graduate instructors for 3 years in US.My husband also has one year experience in US in a software firm as business analyst.
My questions are :
1) How easy or difficult it would be for us to find a job befitting our degrees? Are US degrees at par with Canadian ones?
2)Is 'Canadian experience'( as I have heard) really a bar for finding good positions for newcomers like us?Is US experience at par with canadian experience?
3) What type of jobs can we apply for? Can you please let me know about some good job agencies that can help?
4) I understand that this is a tough time due to global recession-but to what extent are jobs in the economics/finance field effected by the recession?I have gone through many posts in your forum and understand that in Canada no foreign degree( European/ Asian) is acknowledged-does the same thing apply for US degrees?
I would also appreciate any other information regarding searching and finding jobs in Oshawa/ Toronto.
Thanks in advance
