hi bunny,

my baby was allergic to Huggies ,the only one was pamper, then we tried Teddy's choice from Food basics and they are quite similar to pampers ,
we also tried Parents choice but they were not as good.

just try couple of them and if you find not good, you can refund it at FoodBasics.

thanks

Only way out of saving on diaper expense is train baby ASAP. Otherwise you'll have to spend.
* You'll change more often if u buy cheap diapers and top it up with the mess that it might create.

I'll avoid buying from walmart (sp when on sale). It could be me - but even pampers from walmart have been bad.

Interesting...I've bought Pampers from several stores (Wal*Mart, Superstore, Zellers) and didn't notice any difference.
Save.ca has coupons for Pampers and we print those out.
Also, Pampers has a points system where you can exchange points for baby stuff like Dora toys, etc.

And yes, training the kids as early as possible is the only effective way out of diaper expense.

My friend bought cloth diapers for her child. When she told me about them I was very wary as I remember the flimsy nappies my child used in India. But when I saw what she got I was very impressed. They look bulky like ordinary diapers, but are washable. They are expensive (I think it cost $25 each) but can expand upto three sizes and till the child is 35 lbs ( by which time you can definately potty train the child). In the long run she will definately be saving more than I did on my second child's diapers. No allergies, good for the environment, strong and cheaper than regular diapers... should definately explore this option if you dont mind the initial expense.

I am skeptical regarding cloth diapers which are washable. If they are of cloth (washable) I am sure that you will tire yourself by washing the feaces off the cloth diaper. Already I am getting tired of just washing the ocasional leaked feaces (for an infant)spot in cloths. It also leaves a stain on the cloth and we canot be 100% sure of if all the baceria is killed, esp. if you were to clean the whole soiled cloth diaper. you would have to clean it in the bath tub and it is sure to leave feaces all over your bath tub.
I have heard about cloth diapers which are given by an agency, a week or so. They give you like 50 or 60 cloth diapers a week and a disposal bin to dispose off the soiled cloth diaper. Every week at the appointed time, a person comes and takes your disposal bin and give you another set of 50-60 cloth diaper and a disposal bin. Your soiled cloth diapers go through a 12 time cleaning with chemically treated water to make the cloth diaper clean again and the cloth diaper is rotated. It is costly and they say that you can save the environment with this process (though I donot see the benefit to the environment as it is cleaned 12 times with chemically treated hot water). you may google for this company.
However, I would recommend that you make cloth diaper out of your old clean cloth (for the occasional time) and then dispose it off, then and there. This is a more better way.

Hope this helps.

Peace by TK

TK makes some good points. More information that may help you decide one way or the other -the cloth diapers had an inner lining that is can be thrown away when the child poops. I believe these diapers can be washed in a regular washing machine. Not sure if thats what parents do though...
