C0-SIGNER - i think u will hv not hard time but u will have tough time finding one. - its very hard to find someone to PUT THERE CREDIT AT RISK even if u know them very well.

If i m not mistaken , U SHOULD LOOK FOR PRIVATE FUNDING IF U FIND PROPER Connection's.

But remember private funding mostly involve bad guys,,, so u hv to pay them on time...if not then u should ready to face trouble.

its again getting those private funding ( u will hv to really find some one that knows those guys)

I am a bit confused - do you have to pay the full amount of the course or pay by semester - At least speak with the university and get some plan of payment and you can work legally here once u complete your one semester. My hubby came here with $2000 in his pocket as student in canada and we have work like dogs and paid $35000 for his education. Now he has a good, well paid job in his field and enjoying his hard work and i can relax at home. so good luck.

Hello All,

Thanks for the overwhelming response to my queries. Everyone's advice is highly appreciated.

Well, actually, for this degre program, I first got in touch with the university and they said that they couldn't offer any scholarships. Then I turned around to folks to get a first han knowledge whether this B-school is even worth considering because the total cost of he program (tution + staying expenses) is around $105000 CAD for one year.

Whosoever I have talked to, seem to advise me to make the financial arrangements and go for it coz its a world top 50 b-school.

I agree with most of you that nobody on this forum would probably stand as co-signer as the risks are too high. But then, I am currently taking my chances anywhere and everywhere. Hence the post on this forum.

The co-signer and credit history concepts are all known to me. I have spent a few months in Toronto in the summer of 2007 as I was there on a project. I understand the diffculty in standing for someone whom you don't know.

But as someone who has already said above that in case I can guarantee a life insurance to the co-signer so that his/her risks are covered, I can agree to do that. I mean, in case someone is interested in standing as a co-signer, we could probably talk and work things out so that the risk to the co-signer is minimal.

Having said that, there is no hard feelings in case nobody opts to stand in as I understand his/her predicament. Probably i would have had the same thoughts if I were in his/her place.

Currently, I am trying to reach any and every avenue possible to do whtever I can. At least, looking back, I know I did try and if even then it's not meant to be, then it's not meant to be. :)

Regards

xperience,

I am willing to help you - directly and indirectly - but that would need a reasonably serious one-to-one discussion.

Basically I would need to know your personal background (family details, financial details to an extent), educational background, a reason for your desire to purse this at Ivey and not at some Indian b-school, your plans after completing the course, and above all, your plan on paying for this course if I just stood as a guarator and not as a financier.

Suggest how can we do it?

I don't understand - why would anyone want to live in a house of gold if one can't afford it ............. and why would anyone want to risk his credit history and give a loan without security ........ ???

If the banks don't do it and they are in the business of lending ... they have a solid purpose .............. those who do offer unsecured loans do so at a much higher rate and have means of extracting it .............

what really intrigues me is ....... that you want the world ......... you want some one unknown to put their credit history plus a good amount of money at stake ........... and yet offer him 'a difference in interest rates b/w India and Canada ............ wow -- you are a smart manager in the making but NO THANK YOU ......

First reaction - you are a scamster .............. Advice ............ Live with in your means.

Since you are asking others now for the loan .... I assume Chandresh has found reasons not to go ahead per your plan .... I don't think anyone else would do it either ..
