Recently i have been seeing a trend in my company a lot of IT jobs are going to TCS and IBM . Both companies bring people of Work permit even if they will find similar qualified people locally.
With economic slowdown these positions could easily be filled locally but these companies dont even bother to search locally.
Most of these Work permit based people are not allowed to settle on Green card..
So question for everyone how can we fight these illegal practices..
Mind u i am not raising a stinker on outsourcing but local jobs being replaced with overseases imports without giving locals to even compete at the same salary..

I raised this issue of CD some years back and did not receive any comments / suggestions etc....
At that time, I said that it was a joke to give work permits for 100,000 + people in a year (mostly IT), when even qualified immigrants were finding it very difficult to get a break (with special reference to IT).
I really donot know what prompts them to recruit people on work permit and pay them a salary equal to what is given to locals + pay for work permit fees + pay for the profit of the company from where it is getting the candidates.
This is one area where we need to send a strong message to the feds, MP's, MPP's and to our PM.
Hope this snowballes into the same kind of protest as the Sri Lankan Tamils are doing in the GTA.

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
The motivation is company bottom line, moving a person here reduces one person from the bench..
Lack of H1B visa and strong local sentiment has stopped this illegal practice in the usa , not all these companies look to hire locally before sending someone from india.. Hope we can do something similar here..

Even I was surprised on seeing this - the Canadian rules state that if any suitable pros are not found in the local market , then only these jobs will be outsourced ... But the reality appears to be different ........... I wonder how these people manage to do this and are there any ways to prevent this ??
