MGUPTA, I believe you are in Saskatchwen. Can you confirm about the local economy there?

Just today the crime statistics for Canada were declared and 2 top most spots are in SK - Saskatoon and Regina...please share your comments.

Incase you are not in SK, please ignore this post.

I was in Regina for two years, the crime is not bad unless you are in hot spots in the middle of the night!!

Dear Guptaji Jai Shri Krishna,

I am pretty disturbed with Canadain system of inviting educated middle class people from Indian and expecting them to work survival / entry leveljobs for years before they can even get near to their desired professions.

I was an international trade/export marketing professional who is working a job which cant even describe here. Also I have applied to 2000 places with only 2-3 interview calls because of Indian name and education.(I go one stupid job from these 2 calls).

I seriously want to move anywhere in Canada (I already lives in 3 provinces) provided I get at leat 60% of my line of work. I can go back to India in one day, thats easiet thing to do.But I spent over 17 lacs of my money here and lost a great career so I cant go back till I give a lat try.

Please inform me about property, jobs and wher are you located. Can I email you. How can we be in touch. Let me know.

Also is there a Hindu temple there. Ifyes which city.

Thanks,

TJ

SK is slightly colder than toronto(for 3-4 months)...
I met few indians in temple during my last visit in saskatoon.. they'r living in SK over 30 years and very happy...

Auto insurance is very cheaper...my friend who was paying 450$/month(after got involved in 2 accident) in ontario...now just got insured by SGI(Govt org)... for 60$/month...
and if u have G2 from ontario...they will convert it to full licence after ur arrival in SK....no need to go for extra road tests....
rent is almost 20% cheaper than Ontario
Economy is doing great...salary is much better thn ontario or rest of canada......only one -ve point...slightly colder than ON for 4 months...but who cares..once u have job/auto/money
and Most imp...you have always job in sk.......

if anyoneone not doing job in his/her own field or doing odd jobs...i will strongly advice to move to SK..asap...this is the best time to move SK.

There are several serious misrepresentations of Saskatchewan in this thread that must be addressed.

First off, I am an Official in a Saskatchewan Political Party and have been so for nearly 10 years. I have lived in Saskatchewan my entire life.

The posts in this thread including the post by a City of Regina Public Relations employee are serious misrepresentations of Saskatchewan and will cause much hardship for people who are lured to move the province of Saskatchewan.

FACTS:

(1) SASKATCHEWAN IS SERIOUSLY IN DEBT. The current government is trying to suggest Saskatchewan is paying it's debt down but the same people worked in the government in the 1990s and all but bankrupted the province while suggesting there was no debt here. The Federal government of Canada has been bailing out the province of Saskatchewan with transfer payments ever since.

(2) THERE ARE NO JOBS IN SASKATCHEWAN. Many of the posted jobs are for transient work and foreign credentials are not recognized in Saskatchewan. There are literally thousands of foreign immigrants to Saskatchewan who have Masters Degrees, MBAs, Engineering, Medical and other degrees who are working at 7-11, fast food restaurants, and gas stations for MINIMUM WAGE. Statistics Canada - the government of Canada's official Census and statistics agency - states well over half of all immigrants leave saskatchewan in just over two years for Alberta and British Columbia where the climate is warmer. Warning: Your education will not be recognized and you WILL end up working in a minimum wage job that will all but render your education useless in just three to five years. Do not listen to the Snake-Oil salespeople who tell you this is the land of milk and honey and who oversell this region. There are no more jobs in Saskatchewan than anywhere else and the truth is there are far less than Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario where Immigrants are much more likely to find work.

(3) RENT AND PROPERTY IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND SCARCE. Two bedroom apartments rent for between 1200 and 1500 Canadian dollars which is almost three-quarters to four-fifths of a minimum wage salary... you will not prosper here. Many families who come to Saskatchewan end up living on the street as of 2011 or in very small rooms without private bathrooms or cooking facilities.

(4) THERE ARE A LOT OF PUBLIC RELATIONS EMPLOYEES OVERSELLING SASKATCHEWAN. There is a lie being sold to immigrants and people who are from other parts of Canada that is designed solely to lure people to move to Saskatchewan for the purposes of securing cheap minimum wage labourers.

(5) CLIMATE: Saskatchewan is very cold with temperatures during the winter regularly below -30 Celcius and there are weeks where the temperature is -50 Celcius. I speak with immigrants on a regular basis and they indicate almost universally that they will be moving to Calgary, Alberta, British Columbia or Ontario where the climate is much more moderate and there are actual jobs.

(6) THE TRUTH: Saskatchewan is very short on healthcare, housing, education opportunities, and meaningful and reasonable paying work. As as Saskatchewan citizen and politicial official in a political party in the province of Saskatchewan I am bothered deeply by the misrepresentation of Saskatchewan to people who are looking to come to Canada. The adverse effects and damage to their careers, families, and dreams is terrible and I am ashamed at the overselling that is going on about Saskatchewan.

In the 1980s and 1990s in Saskatchewan the same politicians who are in the government today where telling everyone that Saskatchewan was "Booming" and that there was no debt in the province. When that political party was defeated in 1993-93 a forensic auditor reviewed the accounts and economy of Saskatchewan and determined that people like Brad Wall (who is the premier of Saskatchewan today) had in fact been lying and that Saskatchewan was in fact so far in debt that it could not possibly recover. The Boom was a lie designed to sucker immigrants into coming to Saskatchewan. Today the same lies are being sold by the same people with the same results. Immigrants are being hardshipped and there careers are being destroyed with false hope.

Be wary, be informed... don't believe the media spin you see on the internet... the people who are putting that information on the internet are paid to do so.

The points raised by you are very eye opener if it is a reality about Sasketchwan. It is very hard to believe about SK(as described by you) as these was never heard about SK and still in the month of May 2011 Sasketchwan is the province with the lowest unemployment rate in Canada (well below 5%). BTW, what did motivate you to write this about SK? Just curious to know. Your claims can not be denied as more or less this kind of things are existed in other parts of Canada also.
