Considering you areEngg, you must have done some kind of programming, so i guess you the option to go for a programming carrier and my recomendation will be
1. .Net
2. Visual Basic
3. Java
Incase you dont like programming then below are some other options:
1. QA / Testing job
2. Data warehousing
3. ERP
Go for Java / .NET as openings are more.
In SAP / Oracle / ERP etc. the openings are less and it is difficult to get in at entry level. Companies prefer certified candidates with proven experience. This is all jist of what I have read on CD and other sites.
All depends on what you feel naturally comfortable with. Do the thing that you are interested in, you can read about them on the web. Even for all you can have some basic tutorials for free.
Join any entry level programming part time evening course in nearest community college like Humber. That may cost you around 400$ but you will get the taste of programming. Judge yourself if you like it. Don't get into IT just because there is more money. Put your liking and interest on the top. It is not easy but at the same time not imposible.
Good luck!
