Would u please put some light on Functional consultant role in SAP ?
what modules fits best as a SAP Functional Consultant?
Is it required to have more exp before to be a SAP Functional consultant..?
I am looking towards learn only what is going on, how it is done from the client's point of view, or how it is customized, but not how it is done through the use of programming languages (ABAP or Java).
I am sure that for many of you this question might sound very immature and kiddish..... sorry for that
Thank you again Iknownothing & Kabutar12
based on the information i gather from this post i should go with SAP security and BASIS first .
Although i don't like programming , i do hv little knowledge on programming, basic knowledge on VB and html. but i don't prefer going into development site of SAP - its to much for me.
i also have some database ( oracle dba) knowledge and i can deal with SQL
sorry about asking this again and again but i have opportunity to take course threw EI benefits and i wanna take this opportunity by thinking long way.
i dont wanna make mistake choosing wrong module so i dont have to regret in future.
although it will be funded by government and i m not paying anything,,, i still have to spend my time , and this is the only time where i have chance to take right directions.
I am not to sure but i guess SAP BASIS and SAP Security is relatively small portion of SAP and has small training, but with EI i can go for longer courses upto 6-8 months. so why not take a advantage of going for bigger modules.
again, i might be wrong on thinking so please correct me if i m making u upset saying basis and security is relatively small

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Hi TK, how are you doing.
I am glad you are looking at SAP HR as a possible module.
Its not that difficult to learn and has good demand in North America.
Talk to the institute and see if they will also cover Canadian Payroll in the course as most of the projects has this prerequisite.
Now as you have mentioned your programming experience (8 month course), you have below options in HR module.
1. Functional HR: Responsible for configuring system, dealing with business, writing functional specs etc. Below are sub-modules in HR and its nice to know at least 3.
i) Personal Management: Consist of personal development, benefits, recruitment, administration, compensation management, personal cost planning, pension scheme, budget management. ( Important)
ii) Time Management: Shift planning, time sheets (CATS), transfer, incentive wages, work schedule etc. (Important)
iii) Payroll : Should cover Canada and if possible USA (Very Important)
iv) Training and Event management: (Not that important, only few companies uses it)
v) Org management: (Very Important)
2. HR Abap resource: In this role you will be working in technical pieces of HR module and will be responsible for creating and maintaining programs.
Below are the few top skills you need to have:
i) Abap knowledge with logical databases.
ii) Creating or modifying infotypes
iii) Creating HR reports / interfaces.
iv) working with database clusters and macros.
TK, but do talk to training institutes and find out what all they are covering and whats the industry experience of the trainer.
I will try to email some HR specific documentation to you.
TK, i have send you a test email, can you reply to that.
