Hi Guys,

Why is Real Estate cheaper in Brampton then other areas (like Mississauga, Oakville, Markham, Ajax, Pickring, Etobicoke, etc...)

I am currently renting in Brampton and find it a nice place with good mix of different cultures, good schools, low crime, access to highways (410, 407 etc), shopping malls etc

So what the reason of it being cheap as compared to other areas ?
Whats the catch ?

The catch is that Brampton is purely a residential area and that for high paying jobs one would have to travel out of Brampton.

Areas like Milton, Oakville, Markham etc. are dominated by people who are either rich, belong to upper class or have their own business. Hence high rates in those areas.
If you like Brampton, then good for you. The house that you buy may not appricate at a higher rate but then again would not see sudden depreciation too with recession.

Hope this helps.

Peace by TK

I dont really know if i like it, but its definately its more affordable then other areas.
So considering that its has lot of Panju's in that erea and most of them are either taxi/truck driver or factory workers, will you recomend it to any of your friend or family. ?

I would certainly recommend Brampton to my family or friends. In fact some of my extended family members are already living there. Brampton's demography has really seen a gradual change from taxi drivers/factory workers (tell me first, what's wrong with either of them??) to educated professionals in the last few years. Just due to the fact that it's inexpansive as compared to the other areas. So what if it's all residential? Doesn't the suburb meant to be the one? I personally know many of IT professionals that have bought their detached unit in Brampton. If I ever move to Toronto, I will never rule it out as being the most affordable city to live.

By the way, I found it's small downtown to be quite cute when I was living in Toronto 3 years ago.

Not bad, eh?

Brampton North West has all professionals living and Brampton North East has all millionaire taxi/truck drivers...so what is wrong with Brampton. It is the Highway access. There is only one highway 410 leading into it. Get 2 more highway crossing it like Mississauga its prices would skyrocket like anything. And I gree with Tk if the prices dont rise drastically then they dont fall drastically like the did in calgary.

I doubt you will get unbiased answer to this.

There is no catch. I think Infrastructure makes the difference.
Lot many things are already told by other members.

Mississauga has 18-20 public libraries. Brampton has 7-9. Do you care?
There are very few "spots" in Mississauga from where you won't get direct bus to any GO station. Do you care?
If not, why bother. BTW, those were my major criteria.

Winter is a good time. Drive around different residential areas of Brampton and Mississauga. (by residential area, I do not mean business area or apt complex area.). Visit those places during rush hour traffic, during weekends. Try getting real feel.
It all depends on your priorities.

Trust me, no buyer wants to give more money just because the seller is "rich".
As usual, you are funny.
