Adi
adi,
Please try to make your queries in the same thread about buying a house. No need in making a seperate thread for each of your queries.
In MLS under townhouse, see the option which says Maintenance. If it has a Maintainance fee then it is a lease hold and Maintainance costs can be cripping even to a person / family earning 60K +.
as suggested by Pooja, your affordability may be 175K or less and no one will give you even a lease hold town house for that price (as you have mentioned that you are from Etobicoke).
Your only options may be rent to own (one such one is there in 400 and 401 intersection) or a condo apartment (which is similar to the one that you live in but that has maintainance fee and can have a gym, library, security guard etc...)
Hope this helps
Peace by TK

Hi Adi,
As suggested by Blorean in the other thread, you have nothing to lose if you talk to a Realtor about your needs and desires. A Realtor may tell you what are your options and after listening to them, make an informed decision. Everybody's situation and risk taking capacity is different. Some people want to buy a property thinking about the 'profit' from a long term investment but some may just want to avoid the 'rent payments', nothing else. Like I get many clients esp. first time buyers who want to spend almost the same money as they are paying in rent but want the 'unit ownership with in-house laundry and heat/AC control' (I know it may sound funny but that is true). So it depends what you want.
Whether you want to buy 'just a property' or you want a 'customized solution', its upto you. You may try getting the information from different sources like your friends, family members, neighbours, colleagues at work and internet and try to make some sense from all the facts and figures you collected OR just talk to a Realtor, spend one hour, let him do some 'home buyer counseling' with you and then you decide what you want to do..........the choice is yours!
All the best!!
