My son will be going to school starting sept 09. I inquired and found that his home school which will be 2 days a week and then three days next week (alternate fridays) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. After school program is available at $ 200 / mth for only those days when there is school...so for remaining 3 and 2 days respectively in 2 weeks, we have to make our own arrangement for child care.

Option 2 : I inquired in other schools where day care is available : one school has it in their campus and other school has school bus picking up from and dropping to 3 affiliated day cares. The down side is if u r not in your home school , you can not avail school bus service and you have to drop and pick eday by yourself.

I am just wondering any one else facing same situation and if so, what is working for them ? Are there any other pros and cons of either option ?
I know we need to get transfer done evey year if choose option 2 and it may or may not be accepted.

P.S. : I was hoping when school starts, we will save on day care exp but seems like ...no...it is going to be same if not more...

Hi Aashu,

I have tried both options for my son during last one and half year.
The licenced daycare will charge you full even if your son is going to attend full day school on some days..

For daycare, anyways you will have to pick up your child as they don't drop the kids home. But they pick up your kids from school.

Other option is go for after school program for 200$/month and for rest of the days find a home daycare..

But it will be better for the child if he remains at same place ..
Hope this helps..

I am also on same boat. I asked for full day REGD. daycare near Elm Drive Mississauga. They are charging like crazzy for 5 day a week they charged $114 so it become $456 per month. Service included you drop your child at morning around 8.20 a.m and you can pick up your kid before 6.00p.m.

One thing i liked it they can take care of your kid fully. Like they can drop at scool bring from school, after school activities, etc,,,etc,,,

Anyway where are you living? let me know by PM may if i get some information than i will let you know and if you have some information than let me know.

Regards,

Hi RBO : $ 456 is for a govmt day care or pvt ? If it is for PVT it is really v economical. What we find is $ 700 and above.

I am not in Mississauga or close.

Chinu babu : In my opinion, and i cld be wrong as I have no experience, just my assumption that home day cares or govmt day cares are not as good ? Home day care cld be caring and safe but not enough activities for developmt ?

I visited few govmt day cares and wud never want to try them...but they cld just be some I visited....rest are better ?

Hi Aashu..

Licenced daycares offer structured activities, and they are accountable.
If you are in toronto then use the following link to find the quality of the daycare

http://www.toronto.ca/children/quality.htm

My experience with licenced daycare was very good.
