Guptamik,
If I am not mistaken you grew up outside India. No offence but your knowledge/impression of ground realities in India is superficial.
Lets get the facts right and don't get me wrong, I still luv India and will always be.
But we can't get away from realities.
Which part of India have you seen? Ever visited remote areas of Bihar, UP, Orrisa? Have your seen poverty in India? Have your seen kids eating leftover from the dustbins? It hearts when you see this.

Have your seen people stationed outside for months at AIIMS hospital waiting for surgery?

You talk about racism in NA? I have personally seen religious discrimination in India. I am sure minorities can say same thing about India. Does that mean minorities will leave India? This is a part and parcel of multicultural society.
You can raise your voice. You may get legal rights but you cannot erase this.

Have your travelled in DTC buses in the peak hours? If not try it one time. You will know what TK was talking about. I use TTC for four years. Never had any issue.
For culture, if west is looking towards Asian countries, Asian countries, Including India is copying western living style. Live in relation, single mom (except Nina Gupta and Sarika) etc were not heard off openly about 15-20 years ago
Who told you all people have home, cars, maids, eat and live well? Again you need to visit India one more time. And this time look outside of your family circle.

Problem is when we visit India, we are confined to our well off relatives, move in cars, dine at good hotels. That's where conversion rate comes into play. For us that's what India is. Because that's all we see.

Again I repeat purpose of this post is not to show India is a bad place to live but to enlighten you with some realities

There are pros and cons of both India and NA. It all depends which one weighs more for you. Subjective thing and never ending discussion.

Blorean,
Emotional kar diya.
All the best to you.

Please don't post a "why don't you go back" post. I am going back. Happy and content and to what is mine, my Motherland. Home sweet home.

B'lorean,
The reasons that you have given (the whole post) is the same as mine wanting to get out of Canada. Friends who have known me (even in CD) will know that I give them the exact same points as to why I hate Canada.

I will not think of leaving Canada if :
1. get a salary of 60K or more
2. My parents and In laws are with me and enjoying social assistance (welfare)
3. My job is progressive

But the reality is that I am not even close to acheiving the 3 points listed above and hence the desire to leave Canada and to curse Canada for spoiling my life

My conclusions about you

I have been following your posts from day 1 and I have seen that you were one of the people who used to glorify canada and curse people who used to tell about the realities of Cananda. So if you are now doing a turn around, I can only guess that you have been laid off from your job in Cananda and canot find a new one. Now that your job has gone, you no longer see Canada as a great country and you are in the same position of a well qualified immigrant who just canot get a decent job in Canada.
If you being in IT suffer so much in Cannada, Just imagine those not in IT but then highly qulaified....

Welcome to the realities of NA (No, No. Only Canada.)

all the best that you get a even more better job in Canada

Peace by TK

Blorean ,

Though this ( india vs Canada) has been discussed countless times , but seldom have I come across such a poignant post .... my take ....

Each individual is different and as such sets his own priorities .. It becomes difficult to assert when one is against the mainstream but peace comes when we take up something that we really wish to follow ....

But this 'wish to follow' should be well balanced and analyzed .... if you were to browse mine and TK s posts , you d find that we both (and many others) find living in Canada skeptical but still continue doing that as decision making will come in its sweet time and more importantly ..... once we start living in an environment we kind of get used to it and fail to appreciate its benefits .... similar to you , I wished to exit India for getting rid of corruption , pollution , population etc ..... and 10 years hence though having achieved that , I analyze what I have lost in the bargain .... Indian ness , roots , culture , identity , values ........ things which I didn't consider whilst in India for aforementioned reason of getting insulated in the environment ...

Do I wish to make the same mistake twice despite all the cold and depressing winters here ... no I will take my time this time and consider the benefits of Canada also vis a vis today s India and in doing that I shall realistically consider the good and bad side of each .... rationally and not emotionally .....

The benefits I have found of Canada and don't see in India are :

1. Clean air , roads , streets and less traffic .
2. Unstopping supply of power , water and other amenities .
3. Infrastructure and its successful operation .
4. Less or no corruption .
5. More safety on streets / house ... relative ..
6. Functioning of law order and other 'pillar' agencies ...
7. Morally and civic wise , people are better here .... people help each other in times of need .
8. Less or no population pressure .

I have kept it concise . We definitely owe our roots and identity to India and have a preference for , but lets give this new country a fair comparison. People who discriminate here are very very few and we should not get swayed by them and GTA is more homogeneous and accepting than other far flung areas .

All the best in your decision and since you are deciding , you will be at peace upon implementing your decision . Do post in after an year of your decision .

I felt like adding benefits of India over Canada as well ..

1. Indian culture and values ... Diwali ..
2. Climate - even in Dec Jan you have comfortable temps .
3. Feeling of belonging ness .
4. A relative 'rich' status .... top 10% .
5. Easily available & cheap labor .
6. Low cost of living .
7. Gated insulated communities for the rich .
8. Driver / servant / ironing man 'press wallah'
9. Your own relatives / family get together
10 . More friends and get together .
11 . Good and cheap education .
12 . Good and cheap medical care .

That's what my husband says rationally and not emotionally, the decisions to migrate should be purely based on. The grass is always greener on the other side, when in India, NA is lucrative and when in NA we want to go back. My husband and his best friend both did CA in India (together), hubby did his CPA from States and is doing extremely good, and equivalently his friend is currently VP of a foreign bank in India. Whenever both sit down they want to switch each other's careers and always say wish I was there instead of you! Life for both has never been easy be it India or NA hurdles are everywhere, it's just how we take them....emotionally or rationally!

This is a never ending topic.

Jona

TK, 100% disagree with your response.
I don't know about the blorean, but there are many guys (successfuly and setteled) are moving back to India to achieve their own requirement/satisfication. I already post a link of return to india website in my previous post in this thread.

Your 3 requirements for not leaving Canada is yours. Lot of guys have all your requiremnt to stay (including me) in NA but still planning to move back to India or already moved to India. I am not saying NA is not good for all these guys and India is good for them. [For most of these guys, NA has given an opportunity to live in India better way (to achieve their requirement) than what they were living before coming to NA.]. So, Both country gave lot of good/bad in their life but now these guys prefer to settle in India according to what they have and what they can achive and what they want.

Everyone has personal requirement/satisfication level in his life.
I am 100% agree with fido and jonav post above.

"Grass is green on other side."
[Few guys return back to india and not success to settle. They came back to NA again]

Thanks
