I am interested in knowing Which IT jobs pay more than $50/hour
Does not matter full time or contract.
But more than $50/hour is what I need to know and also which high paying jobs are really in demand now a days.
One job that I know of is Network Admin to roll out the new applications in enterprise environment.
Please share your knowledge of such jobs.

Gapodi,
Lot of IT jobs are available for more than $50 an hour (on Contract mostly) as payroll jobs will be less for this rate. $ 50 an hour works our to $100,000 a year and in Canada, it is availabe only to the experienced people.
For contract over $50 an hour, I recommend the following. There are loosely based on the highest paying to the lowest paying (as I know it). Other IT CD Guru's can help you better.

1. SAP/ Oracle Financials
2. DBA (Oracle)
3. Dot Net
4. Informatica (ETL)
5. Network Administration./ UNIX Administration.
6. C #
7. Java

In all the above cases, you should have solid IT experience and preferably USA Working experience for a couple of years. Also varies by companies. For example a top notch IT company may pay more for Java or C # while a medicore company may pay your less than Java for highly specialised field such as Oracle DBA.
In USA, it is even more easy to get jobs and high paying ones too.

Technologies :

ERP :SAP / JDE / Ora Fin / ABAP
BI Applications : Informatica / Data Stage / Cognos
Web Applications : Java / .Net
DB Tech : Oracle / SQL Server .
OS : Unix , Citrix , Microsoft .

Next question is since I will be coming in as a fresher to these environments though not as a fresh canadian or fresh to IT, what kinda starting hourly salary I am looking at in Toronto.

Where are you coming from? What technology/job are you targetting? What kind of experience do you have so far?

Good paying Jobs in 2009 for newly arrived Immigrant ... hmmm now that will be challenging for you specially considering the fact that there are some experienced professionals out in woods hunting.

taxi driver is a good job. you drive around in a dodge caravan and see the beautiful city. but if you are a indian by heart you manipulate the meter to charge double the regular rate per kilometer. if you need help with this contact me at 416-332-0944
