I need to sale my home in Brampton (Moving for JOB), I was talking with real estate agent he told me that I have to confirm contract with him for two month and whenever my house is sold I have to pay him total 5% commission + GST.
Is this normal charge around Brampton, ON?
Thanks for the input.
Happy New Year!

A friend of mine wanted to sell his Town house in Hamilton. He approached an agent for help. He assessed the house for Two Hundred Thousands and asked for 6% commission.
My friend listed privately spending about 1000 bucks and sold the house for 219000. Upon listing the same agent called my friend and offered to bring potential customers provided he agrees to pay 1.5 % commission. My friend said F#%^ off.
The moral of the story
Agents always (or convine the owners to) list for less than the marked price, so that they can close the deal and make their quick buck.
Approach an agent for buying a house not for selling house. This is my sincere advice.

There are few websites listing your home and providing you a post "For Sale".
On CD we also have classified section where you can post your ad free of charge. Good Luck.
