I agree with some of you folks.. the serials nowadays show the following...

Scheming, Promiscuity, Extra- marital affairs, High Society habits.:k :lovers: :lulove: :shoot: ...etc because modesty prohibits me from writing them down.

I do remember this serial called as Tara... It went tata.:w ... then came all the serials from Ekta Kapoor - I never watched them and neither did my family, but during lunch time my colleagues used to discuss these and they used to laugh at me. But trust me all of them had similar storylines and they all had the same theme. Ekta was a numerology/alphabet freak and had all those serials starting with 'K'. Finally the only person who went laughing to the bank was Ekta....

Instead of watching Television serials like these and wasting time, I prefer one must watch Discovery . I love it. Our DD tried to ape it but ran out of money for some time and then TRP. Sad. But I love to watch Discovery Channel with my family still.

That brings me to another question: Which are the channels you would love to watch here. ??

BL/ GG: Don't you think we should have a opinion poll on that?

BTW - Old serials How can you all forget Satyajit Rays serials on DD . Directed by none other than the master himself..

Ur post/s has rekindled old and fond memories ........ Years back when we were still more Indian @ thought and not taken in and admiring recent M'bai Iglesias show for dubious reasons !!

Just to place some more pieces --- 'Darpan' (with a commentary by Kamleshwar the newsreader of yester years ) 'Ek Kahanai' .And then there was this 2good romantic serial --'Phir wahi talash' I rememeber recording the whole of it ........ And another Karamchand -Kitty starrer 'Kab Tak Pukaroon'.

In not so old times there used 2 b this refreshing serial ' Yule Love Stories' and Lajo ji in real good episodes of 'Suboot' third only 2 'Karamchand' and 'Vyomkesh bakshi '. Then 'Dastaan' was also recalled upon arriving in the Middle East!!!

Amongst the english 1s Jeremy Irons 'Sherlock Holmes' & William Shatner 'Star Trek' really take the piece of cake. Then there used 2 b a lesser known 'Raven' series also ............

Those were the days when u relaxed on a Sunday morning and watched 'Jungle Jungle pata chala hai ..........Mowgli Jungle Book' . 'The Sword of Tipu Sultan' & 'Himalya ki God mein' where they would take u 2 the wilderness & beauty of Himalyas in a storied episode are also unforgotten.

And I thought that we only lived in a gen of 'Kyunki saas....' and 'Kahani ghar .....' . Nice that v just grow older , not fade away .Kudos 2 u all !!

PS : Does any1 rememeber Pak serials 'Dhoop Kinare' , 'Chand Grahan' kinds .

If I am not mistaken, Darpan had this commentary ?
"Darpan, yani aaina,
zindagi bhar ka aaina
Kehte hain Darpan kabhi jhoot nahi bola karte..."

Are you sure it was Kamleshwar ? I thought it was Harish Bhimani ( the same voice over for the intro in Mahabharat "Main samay hoon";)...

Does anyone recall the 6-part 1-hr serial 'Tamas', that use to air on Mondays?
Also, on Monday during the same time period use to come 'Kaka Ji Kahen'.
