There was this 'Satya Ray Presents ' serial ??? in which ther was a very ghothic episode of Dr Sriram Lagoo living as a painter and as a new neighbour approaches him one day he discovers that all the paintings / portraits are of dead people ....... and this new neighbour's painting is also one of the recent ones.................. very haunting tot his day ... does anyone recall this one.

Fido, you have me piqued. Can you shed some more light on that episode ? Was that a Feluda episode ?
Sorry Mungeri Lal... Yahan par koi Haseen Sapne nahin dekhte hain...
(esp. With Kamia malhotra - Tere mere milan ki yeh raina )

Raghuveer yadav...an avant grade actor; stellar performance in his debut film Massey Saheb and also as Mullah Naseruddin.

All those serials have been discussed previously..read through those threads.. I personally made it a point to talk about them as they were my favorite serials.

Fido..you have invoked BOSS..and here you go

Whozzzzzzzzzzzzzzat

This single post can hijack the whole thread :)

Yeah O_N your lyrics for Subah were appreciated .... I will write more abt that episode when i remember more..... but there used to be a serial 'Satyajit Ray Presents ' ?? Am I right ??

Now this time I m delving really really deep into my subconscious memories ...... it must have been a play on DD .... there s this lady sitting with 3 people in a restaurant .... name is 'Roohi' or something .... its a New Years eve and they are celebrating .... talking over drinks ....... As the night melts into the morning the lad excuses herself to the washroom.... When she does not retrn for a while ..... these other fellas go to check @ her address which she has provided to them in their maiden meeting only to learn from her mother that she died in a road accident on a New Years Eve years ago.............. hair raising no ??? maybe it happens that what we see as child is more imprinted on our memories than more recent stuff.

Fido, yeah, that post by that guy caught my attention a couple of years ago. He seems to have covered a lot of serials that were not covered over here.

Now that you tell me, I do remember there was a serial (from my subconscious) called "Roohi"..dont ask me any details about it. I just know there was such a serial. Maybe I dont know more details about it.

This guy also mentions about "The sword of Tipu Sultan" (a novel by Bhagwan S Gidwani).. Did you know that Shabaaz Khan (Hyder Ali) made his debut in this serial, and in fact became a Hindi Film Villain. He even made his debut in "Naachnewale Gaanewale".

Maybe we can start a compilation indicating all possible television actors/actresses who forayed into movies (successful roles).

Does anyone remember this Sunday Morning serial

Late Mohan Gohkhle and Alok Nath
it was called Lekhu

The intro song was something like this
"woh jo tasveer banaye,
use koi samajh na paaye,
lekhu sochta jaaye,
lekhu ka <something> ho " ?

It was about Lekhu who accidentally invents a superconductor and gives his notes to Alok Nath....

My all time favourite is 'Mahabharat', then comes Karamchand. Yes, someone mentioned 'Eik do teen char'. Also, Buniyad, Rajni, Mungeri Lal ke haseen sapney, Khaandan. Who can forget Rangoli on Sunday morning at 7:30 that used to be the alarm of us kids to get up early. Man, those were the days, really. All these 100+ channels today, can never replace those days with few serials, once a day newscast.

Even I guess people never used to miss that half an hour program once a week, where they read letters from the viewers. I believe the name of this program was 'Aap aur Hum'.

Just lingered in my mind. There was another program (though it's not in my favourite list, but thought to reinvent the memories), called 'Krishi Darshan. lol...

Do you guys remember a movie on the Election day? They always chose a blockbuster movie to show on the Electioin day. Everyone used to be so contented with few programs.

Hum Log was really religiously followed by one and all in the family. Yeh jo jey zindagi was a great comedy too. I loved it, but now can't recall even the single episode.

Then came the era of 'Dekh Bhai Dekh', Zuban Sambhal Ke - both, my favourites. Those were the days of healthy and clean family programming. Today, everything on TV is crap, from serials, soaps, to news. As they say, access of everything is bad.

I believe, if the producers of these shows introduce the DVDs of all the episodes, then they will be sold like 'hot cakes'. What you say guys?? I will be the first one to buy all the DVDs of all this old but healthy, clean entertainment.

Ottawa_nerd, I was thinking about the name of this 'Lekhu' serial. I had the title song in my mind, but forgot the name. Yes, another favourite in my list.

There was another one, I just recalled with a song in the serial -

'Sheetal majil komal tera aanchal..

aur eik shaam maine tere naam likh di'

Don't remember the name, but I used to watch it as well.

How can you guys forget 'Vyomkesh Bakshi' - the detective with simplicity and a wit.

I am a Punjabi, but I believe all the serial with 'Bengali' backdrop were really special. There was something in them, that makes them very very different from the other serials. They are pleasant to remember, and a different kind of feeling sway you away.

Remember, Malgudi days (tana na na na nanana..), and 'eik chidiya anek chidiya'? I can simply all that time as a Golden Era of TV.

Tehkikaat, Udan, Farman(Kanwaljeet Singh as a Nawab), Mrignayani

But, the one that is close to my heart is 'Fauji' that started the trend of saying 'Chaps' among boys - 'I say Chaps'.

Another in line was 'Kahan gaye woh log'.

I can go 'ga ga' over all these serial that are so close to my heart. The bottom line is they are the serials that unite us Indians in one way or the other. Can you say the same thing to the present day ones. I guess, without thinking about it, the answer is 'absolutely no'.

I wish the producers really make the DVDs and circulate in the market. Alternatively, DD can go back to it's days and believe me, the viewership will only step up.

Thank you guys, for taking me down to the memory lane. For a moment, I forgot all my worries and stress. Take care and bless you all.
