This article is published for information only.
Absolutely no intentions to show low of any other communities on the board

I don't claim that this article is correct for every claim that is
made.... But feels good... and nothing new we don't know.

This is an extract from an article in a Pakistani newspaper

'The News International' (Part of the Jang Group) a hardcore Islamic
Pakistani paper

as at 6th September 2008

........India' s wealthiest man, Mukesh Ambani of Reliance, is Gujarati.

Forbes says he is the world's fifth richest man, worth $43 billion.

Azim Premji of Wipro, is Gujarati. He is the word's 21st richest man,
worth $17 billion.

Ten of the 25 richest Indians are Gujarati.

Some of the best business communities in India -- Parsis, Jains,
Memons, Banias, Khojas and Bohras -- speak Gujarati.

The two great leaders of the subcontinent, the Mahatma and the Quaid,
were both Gujaratis from trading communities. One a Bania, the other a
Khoja.

Gujaratis number 55 million, five per cent of India's population
living on six per cent of surface area, but hold 30 per cent of all
Indian stock.

They account for 16 per cent of all Indian exports and 17 per cent of GDP.

On August 8, the National Council of Applied Economic Research
published a report.

The richest city in India is now Surat, ahead of Bangalore and Madras,
with an average annual household income of Rs0.45 million (over
$11,000).

80 per cent of all diamonds sold anywhere in the world are polished in
Surat's 10,000 diamond units The only non-Jews in the Tel Aviv and
Jerusalem diamond bourse are Gujjus. Between 2004-5 and 2007-8 Surat's
middle class doubled in size and its poor reduced by a third.

The fifth richest city in India is now Ahmedabad, ahead of Bombay and
Delhi, and miles ahead of Calcutta.

The Communists rule Bengal and Kerala. They are splendid at protecting
Muslims but rubbish at running the economy. They hold million-man
rallies with the Jamiat-ul-Ulema- i-Islam (yes, we have one too)
demanding that America get out of Iraq, but cannot stop Tata from
being chased out of Bengal. The percentage of man-days lost in Gujarat
due to labour unrest is 0.42 per cent, the lowest in India. Of
Gujarat's 18,048 villages, 17,940 have electricity.

Under Modi the face of industrial Gujarat is changing. The world's
largest oil refinery is coming up in Jamnagar. Owned by Reliance, it
already refines 660,000 barrels of oil a day and will double that this
year. Thirty per cent of India's cotton is grown in Gujarat, 40 per
cent of India's art-silk is manufactured in Surat, employing 0.7
million people. The world's third largest denim manufacturer is
Ahmedabad's Arvind Mills.

A KPMG report says 40 per cent of India's pharmacy industry is based
in Gujarat with companies like Torrent, Zydus Cadila, Alembic, Dishman
and Sun Pharma.

The state's GDP has been growing at 12 per cent a year for the last 12
years, as fast as China's.

Gujarat has given Mahatma Gandhi & Sardar Patel.

Gujaratis are around the World.

Oil Wells at 'Bombay High' are in Gujarat. Bombay High is politicaly
given name because then PM hated Gujarat & Gujaratis.Gujarat is given
royalty for Oil by Central government.

Peacock,
You forgot to say that Gujarat has the most per capita of the most beautiful girls in the country (often most canot speak one word of English though !). It was the only state in which I saw an Auto Driver owning a very nice house in a decent locality (cooperative) and his daughter was as beautiful and as white as a film star.
A few Gujju's that I have been in contact with say that if liquor was allowed freely in Gujarat, it would be the New York of India.
Also I have to add that some very good educations institutions like the NIFT, CEPT, IIM are in Ahmedabad as well as some institutions like ISRO, Ghandi labour Institute, Environmental institute etc.....
Also Landmarks such as Ghandi Ashram, Revolving restaurant, Teen Darwaza, Sidi Syed Mosque exist there.

Hi Peacock and Tamilkurvan,

Nice information let me add something here.

In Jan - 2001 Earthquake hit badly in Gujarat specially Kutch region, I remember that day was 26th January. FYI I am belongs to Kutch region, Earthquake was so bad lots of Human life and proprety lost on that earthquake. Even i lost my own 13 people (relatives) and lost my home. But we didn't loose HOPE, Now after 7 years we build a new house and all most everything has come smooth now.

Meaning is specially in Gujarati i feel we have more stemina or Hope to fight with worst situation (may be i am wrong).....and we have good Money Management even.

if you compare LATUR (U.P.)and KUTCH eathquake the people in LATUR are still in very bad situation. But now in my place if you go even you hardly found that big disaster had happened in this area. all new building and people compromize with life and living happly .

in Short story, we believe in faith and work honestly which lead us on successful path.

Pray to God to give peace all of us in our life...

Jay Jay Garvi Gujarat.

Just to add on what RBO says -

First LATUR is not in UP, but its in Maharashtra

To some extent what progress happen in Kutch & what not happen in Latur - for this local government is equally responsible

I remember, how much foreign grants & people in India itself donated in Latur but it never reaches to right people

Overall Indians are very dynamic people. Any part of India has rich culture. Be it South / North / East or West. I believe one can find Indians in many countries of the world. If one takes example of cricket teams like England / New Zeland / Canada has cricket players with Indian names.

Proud to be Indian Canadian.

Cheers.

Kanjibhai was preparing wedding cards for their son at the printers.

Kanjibhai was not very good at English so he asked the printer to help him.

After the printer had presented Kanjibhai with a draft , Kanjibhai quickly pointed out that the " RSVP " was missing .

The printer was surprised by Kanjibhai's knowledge and asked him if Kanjibhai knew what it meant.

Kanjibhai started to think and after much thought he replied :

"Vait! I remember! I remember! RSVP!! It means "Remember, Send Vedding Present!"

The Gujju and the Arab

1 2 3 4 5 (14 votes) An (Bahraini) Arab was admitted in the Lilavati Hospital at Mumbai for a heart transplant, but prior to the surgery the doctors needed to store his blood in case need arises.

As the gentleman had a rare type of blood, it couldn’t be found locally. So the call went out to a number of countries. Finally a Gujarati was located who had a similar type of blood.

The Gujarati willingly donated his blood for the Arab. After the surgery, the Arab sent the Gujarati as appreciation for giving his blood, a new Hummer, diamonds, lapiz lazuri jewellery, and a million US dollars.

Once again the Arab had to go through a corrective surgery. His doctor telephoned the Gujarati who was more than happy to donate his blood again.

After the second surgery, the Arab sent the Gujarati a thank you card and a jar of Almond halwa sweets. The Gujarati was shocked to see that the Arab this time did not reciprocate the Gujarati’s kind gesture as he had anticipated.

He phoned the Arab and asked him why he had expressed his appreciation in not so generous manner.

The Arab replied “Bapu…..now I have Gujju blood in my veins!”
