I need to get some money transferred from India to Canada.What is the best way?

As a new immigrant --the limit is increased now but I am not sure abt that limit.
If u r already an immigrant---Gift drafts from SBI is the safest way. Anybody from india can send u gift drafts. Hawala transaction is not worth it

Hi !
While using the banks pls keep the difference of conversion rates in mind . One can lose upto 2 Rs / dollor ..
So browse your options thoroughly ..

yes, i m already an immigrant.

Besides SBI drafts what are the safe and ecomomical (without loosing much money) options?If someone has recently researched on this, it will save my time.

I use ICICI all the time. Their rates are quite competitive.
If you have a higher amount they better the rate.

Also transfer charges are the minimal.

Money tranfers is the only good thing about ICICI Canada.

If I use ICICI bank - do I need to tell them the reason why I am transferring the money. Like Gift?

ANd what is the maximum one can transfer.
