Summons to Juror

I have received a letter "Summons to Juror" . Has any one been through this experience before ? If so, can you pl share, what to expect ?

Yeah I have been thru this number of times. It is a very boring process and takes around 2-4 days. You can only be excused from this duty by the Judge after giving him/her a genuine reason and good explanation. And if you get selected thn you are stuck for the total duration of the trial. Fortunately same as Super 7 and 649 my number did not come in the draw at jury selection so I happily escaped ;) .
As Jury duty is mandatory so your employer is obliged to give you time off with pay for the time you spent in this process.

How is one selected for such a duty? Is it random? or you have to apply for it?

You must be a Canadian Citizen and they select randomly (from which database? I dont know)

That's what is thought. I received this letter when I was just two years in this country (just had landed paper). I never called them back nor I replied.
Must have been a mistake

Why boring ? cases are not interesting or is this not challenging role ? At least different than daily job routine .....

Kahte hai na pasand apni apni khyal apne apne:) I have yet to see a person who is excited to be called for this duty. Anyways, once you are done with the process please share your experience with us.
