I am not sure there is a standard recipe to secure a job as you may be hoping, through your Secret #1 and 2. At least, there is no such thing in my field/industry. However, here are few things I would expect if I am the hiring manager for a professional white collar position.
1. Resumes should highlight the value you can bring to me rather than simply stating what you have been doing or done in your current/past career.
Example - instead of stating you have done six sigma projects, you may say that you achieved $X savings through the application of six sigma methodology.
Example - Every Industrial Engineer's roles are fairly similar throughout the world. The employers look for what you have done above and beyond.
2. For positions that require experience, I treat certifications as a reflection of your aspiration towards continuing education. They don't necessarily get you a job, but certainly, you have my attention. For an entry level position, certifications put you above the rest.
3. Oral communication skills. Articulating your thoughts into a tactful and diplomatic sentence is very important unless the position requires nothing more than sitting in front of a computer and transmitting your results to others. This skill will show up right during the interview and make for the first impression. Depending on the position, this skill will override all your education and certifications. And remember, I don't give a hoot about your accent, but I do care about clarity in your language.
4. If you are male, get a decent haircut.

I agree with dimple2001's suggestions...
Particularly I liked #4 very much... dimple2001 has rightly stressed upon a very important skill that many of us forget to improve upon.."speaking clearly and presenting your ideas precisely, in a logical and sequencial manner "....
about#5... one question... why only male need decent haircut?

in my previous post, please replace #4 with #3 and
#5 with #4.

I find it very hard to convert my achievements in monetary benefits to the Employer ................ this cost benefit ratio cannot be projected always as the returns of what you have done may come in years and at times not feasible ....... for eg . how do you quantify / value a Sys Admin's efforts ???...... which is very different from a sales person's job ..... and the interviewer / recruiter should be smart enough to differntiate .
