There is a open house conducted by Sheridan College on the 11th June in Brampton and I would urge you to drop in and get as much information as you can and collect it at that location on that day.

Here is a link to one-on-one job counseling, not knowing your age bracket I have provided with an additional link here under.
http://www.sheridaninstitute.ca/services/jobconnect/

This link is for the Internationally trained professionals.

This link is for the new comers:

Look at the Corporations that they have association with:

If you are close to Mississauga and want to avail their facilities at that location, please see what are the courses that they are offering at that campus.

If you feel upto it and want to write an e-mail or have a question or two to ask, please feel free to contact any of these people in the link. Please leave a message with your phone number for them to return your call.

In my previous posts I have provided links to other institutions in and around GTA and you should take a look at what they have to offer also.

For SAP training, PURES, is one of the best and please wait for a proper response from one who attended and availed such a course from them.

Good Luck in your job hunt.

Freddie.

If its of no concern, can you let me know your IT skillset. Four experience is quite considerable to get a job. Also, the oral communication skills appear to play a role and I am sure you are aware of that.

Welcome to Canada. I don't think anybody told you about what you were getting into. Well in fact even if somebody would have told you, you wouldn't have believed. OK if you can't go back to India or don't want to, try Duferrin-Peel catholic school board's Adult learning program where for a small fee they train you and try to place you as a volunteer in a job, in your case will be IT related and a few lucky people are actually hired by the organizations where they work. My wife got a position like this in GTA. She is systems Analyst and works on .NET/Microsoft technologies. If you can PM me your resume(CV) I can check in my organization as they do hire Co-ops but they hire from U Of Waterloo.

Here's the link for Dufferin Peel Catholic School Board

To the OP - Please be patient and do not lessen your intensity - generally new Immigrants succumb to the odd jobs vicious circle as w/o a job the outgo of savings is high . But be patient - there are jobs and you will get one as long as you are focussed , consisted and persevered. Please mention your IT skill set and send me your resume (pm me first) & I ll pass it on to our HR.

Remember the IT scenario in India is also currently under a shadow . I know of this person working with Wupro having a PMP under his belt and 10 yrs exp w/o a job for 3 months now .... it could happen anywhere ..............every night has a dawning .

hi,

I agree with Fido,

Me and my husband both are in IT and we came here in Feb'08. We didnt get jobs for 2 months and we never went for any odd jobs as we were sure we would get something sooner or later. Within 2 both got IT jobs.

What I would suggest is , go through workopolis and monster, go through old listings as well. Send cvs to the companies who are in your field. The hit ratio is very less but I'm sure something will click.

In our case none of us were from java or .net or any other mainstream technology. My husband is in AS400 and I'm in e-Learning. I'm telling you this as we can relate to you. Inspite of not being in a high demand technology we did get jobs in our own field in 2 months.

Hopefully you willalso get in 2 months time.
