Dear CD's,
Just require a clarification regarding vacation payment.
I have been employed in the same company for 5 1/2 years now and I ahve been on payroll for around 4 years. I have taken only 2 weeks off ( 1 week off in Aug,. 2005 and 1 week off in Jan 2006). I was not paid for the weeks that I took off. I do remember that I took a payout (Vacation) of around $2000 (- taxes) in Dec. 2005 and another $300 (- taxes) in Dec. 2007.
Currenly my payslip indicates that I am owed $923 on Vacation payments and I am entitled to 3 weeks vacation from this year.
My question is :
when I take my vacation of 3 weeks , will I be paid $923 (- taxes) and 3 weeks of salary during the time that I am on Vacation or will I be paid my vacation pay of $923 (- taxes) and then no salary in the 3 weeks that I am off?
What is the correct procedure for people on payroll?
Thanks in advance for the answers.
Peace out

Hello TK,
Here is a little Q & A that I am sure you can read and use, before anyone can respond with proper answers specific to your questions that you have raised.
My understanding is that you have earned that much sum of money that will fall due to you upon you availing that many number of days that it will permit, as specified in the pay stub on THAT DATE. It is on that particular day on the Pay check, or the stub. When you can avail the number of days that you have accumulated is between you and the D.v.l you work for.
Go through this and see if you have any more questions. But the best person to seek is the lady who coughs it up every other week.
Bregards,
Freddie.

Freddie,
Thanks for the Link. It was quite useful.
So I am entitled to a min. of 8 weeks vacation while I have been granted only 2 weeks till now. I belive that he has been giving me the 4% vacation pay (as that is being accumulated and is shown of the payslip).
I knew that I had to talk to the employer to get my benefits. I just wanted to know the facts first (through CD's) before I take my case to the employer.
Thanks once again.
Peace
