Fido !
My mistake ..I must have given this link earlier
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10101436&CMP=BAC-FS_hbad_t1_s4-EN

Why bother spending another 100 on memory ? Down grade to XP and get very good performance . Vista is a resource guzzler .

This deal is good only for today

Ashwani

Ashwani, thanks for sharing, it is a good deal. I would recommend getting an additional Gb of RAM for Windows Vista.

Though Vista is not very stable yet, it will be down the road, so perhaps it is better to upgrade now.

Plus, if you don't have a copy of XP, you'll have to dish out some real cash to get one.

I personally do prefer XP over Vista, just because it is so stable.

Does anyone have any advice for laptop warranties?

I have these options:

1) Get a standard one year warranty (with laptop purchase) and pay by AMEX to double it to two years (additional year covered by AMEX).

Total after taxes price of Core2Duo Laptop, 2 Gb RAM, 250 GB harddisk, DVD writer, Integrated Webcam, Bluetooth etc. = 568 CAD

2) Buy an additional two year warranty for 149.99 and get a total of three years in coverage (one year warranty included price of laptop).

Same laptop costs 738 CAD after taxes.

I'll appreciate all input, thanks!!

Id go with the 1st option as $170 is kinda expensive for the 3rd year .

Hi G13 ..
I would have opted for the option no 1 .
I personally dont BUY warranties . Generally if nothing goes wrong in first year the chances after are very remote .

Thanks for the responses, I was also inclined towards option 1, just am in the process of checking with AMEX what their terms and conditions are.

Ashwani, why would you not recommend Dell? I agree the best Laptops are by Toshiba, but Dell isn't a very bad option either. I have used several dell laptops at work for the last 5 years and never had any hardware issues.

What I like about Dell is that they operate efficiently, passing the savings to the consumer.

I am still surprised of the fact that the laptop I got directly from Dell was being offerd at 50% more price through COSTCO :-)

Hi guys,

I am looking for laptop with following configuration.

17" inch screen
Intel core 2 duo T5150 or higher processor 2.0 GHz / 2 MB cache
>=250 GB HDD
>=4 MB RAM
Inbuilt 802.11 wireless, webcam, bluetooth,IR
DVD dual side burner
>6 USB ports
3 months internet free

Good to have but not necessory:
Memory Card Reader card (SD / Sony memory card)
TV Tuner card

Let me know if I am missing anything in configuration.

I've following questions.

1) Which company is good? (Dell/Toshiba/HP)
I have Compaq laptop. It becomes very hot in few hours. What about Dell/Toshiba?

2) What about 3 months internet free service in canada if I'll buy from USA?

3) Do u know any current deal?

Thanks in Advance.
