I like to get opinion of this froum to go back to India if you lived here few years and get excited with Indian Economy and growth.

In India, though highly populated, thing has changed which we left some time ago. I am out of India since 1999 ( 9 yeras). I used to get say approx. 1,50,000 ( 1.5 lacs rupees). My co workers are getting around 12,00,000( 12 lacs Rupees) now. That is huge jump! Things has changed too much in 9 yeras.I am doing same kind of job what I was doing in India.

New generations is getting good salary and enjoying lots of material life which we are talking about here in North America.

I will hear from you guys that there is lot of pollution of water and air. But that has also cure. If u get sick go to doctor . Small illness is very common in India but at the same time it is getting cured also very fast. Here health care system is very bad. Until you are not serios ill, you will not see doctors.

Please share your opinion on this.

Not discouraging you but if you have kids, what about them.
When they goto college or sit for competitive exams wont the 'Reservation' devil shatter their dreams of making it big in life.
What about the food milk medicines that you feed your kids ...you can never be sure of the purity. I know many will say that there are people who are living there but hey I chose to move out!
Love my country but will wait till my kids grow up and are sensible to make their own decisions and then go back if at that time I think , I can make a difference back home!

Going back to India is a wise decision, if there are no other factors favoring staying in US / Canada.

The factors one need to compare are:

Compensation

Worth of Money (Buying power)

Property Appreciation

Currency Appreciation

Kids Education

Environment

Health Care

Relatives

And India is a diverse country and within India there are differences among all the above factors.

If one is planning to go back to India after earning few thousand dollars, I don't think it will be easy. The way the prices are shooting up in India, what we were able to buy (using our dollar savings) a year ago, now may be we can get 80 percent of it, if we are lucky. Think about what would happen after 10 years?

If you feel strongly like going back then you should do it instead of staying here with your heart in India. I would say if you get a ok job which satisfies you then go back certainly and enjoy whatever India has to offer.

Regarding education and reservation system, there are lots of private college and if student is intelligent enough he will get admission and job in this competitive world.

I answered some of the major concerns you guys highlighted.

On purity of milk and medicines, I am worried but food specially vegetables has more values in India than here. I saw so many Indian parents who lived here with their kids grown but after their kids gone to University they just gone for ever. They will screw up their married life as well as relationship with parents/siblings very fast. It does not mean that same is not happening in India. But it is not that worse.

Compensation: If I get salary in range of 50000-70000 Indian rupees ( which may not be difficult) . This is forum and I know I will get reply in both ways ( positive and negative, but that will be important for someone who wants to decide for future path).

So with 50-70K per annum, I can live very nice life but there won’t be saving too much at least there will be high value in life.My friends in India , they have decent hosueand car and theyenjoy small vacation within india every year. Working culture is also changing now a days.people are not pro savings.

Currency Appreciation:

Indian Economy and GDP is growing. Things get changes. I do not know what will be exchange ration in 2020 ( may be 1CDn$ = 50 Rs or 20Rs.). India has lots of youth and that is their big assets.

Environment: I know it is very polluted in terms of air and water but u developed immune system and some modern equipment can protect against those.

Health care: I am sure that Indian health care is better than here. He re it is govt. funded but over there u have to pay for that which is not that costly right now.

What I understand upto now that you will miss your family for one generation but after that our kids will not miss that. But at the same time they will be different personality also who do not belive in this kind of relationship too much. They will belive in family reunion, thanks giving dinner, living life within themselves, etc.

It is hard to compare two countries. Its almost as if they are incomparable as there is nothing similar. One thing which I believe in favour of canada is that it is a good place for women. If you have a wife/daughter I believe that this is the place to be. Not that India is not, but the experience is more comfortable overall.

When you make a decision you forgo the other options in favour of the decison you made. Its hard but I try to happy wherever I am and leave location out of the equation.

My 2 cents... in very short :-)
I am away from India for 21 years now, recently visted for 2 months During these 2 months I have visited biggest Metro and smallest villages, have seen highly paid professionals and Rikshaw pullers... and I would say.... if you want quality of life stay in Canada otherwise go back to India.
