SOmeone explained to me about the RESP with Industrial Alliance - they gibe additional 15% bonus on your contribution (in additon to the govt's 20%) - is it too good to be true or there are strings attached to it. Any genuien info (other than the RESP agents!) on this would be highly appreciated. thanks in advance

Never heard of it. This is a self RESP with a fund. I donot of they are talking abt a 15% discount on MER (unheard of). Other then that, I cannot think of where a 15% bonus could come from, CCTB, CESG, CLB which gives $500. I guess all the RESP's except the group/scholarship one would attract the same benefits. Go figure!

For all CDs

Please read through it all. IA does indeed give UPTO 15% on all contributions.

Provisions are there.

Yes, I would also like to know more about the \"IA Diploma\". Are there any strings attached to it and also is it reliable? Some good family friends advice me to be careful with the trust and the insurance companies offering the RESP and also not to go in for the group plan. After all the suggestions and advices from many good friends and financial advisors, I could figure out that the Family Plan offered by the banks are the one I should opt for and in that the investment depends that I want to go aggressive, moderate or calm-going (safe and secure).

I want to know what are the views for getting the RESP from a bank in a Family Plan with investments in mutual funds having a moderate approach and/or going in for money market GIC having 100% security for one’s own hard earned money.

I would like to get some inputs as I am in a decisive stage for going in for RESP as my son is 1 month old.
