I was reading the charcha section and read about the renter's scam. Well the scam is just not limited to the renter's ads. my daughter saw an ad on this site for free puppies and we got a similar email. I was suspicios at that very instant coz the email id was yahoo.co.uk and they were ready to send two yorkies from Africa for free as long as I provided them my mailing address. The yorkies cost around 500$ each plus the transportation cost from Africa. And they were willing to do all this for FREE. Unbelievalbe isn;t it. Anyways, I did not send them anything but please beware of scams like this and never give out your information.
Thank you for warning us about this scam. And i would also like to warn Desis of another:
Recently, one of my acquaintances called me to seek advice on U.S.Airways job offer at Toronto Airport. She told me she was very interested and the start pay was over $18.00 and no experience was required. On asking, she advised that the advertisement was posted on toronto.craigslist. I was skeptical for 2 reasons. Firststly, no airline starts as over $18 for customer service (and no experience required position) and secondly, why would US Airways post the position on craigslist instead of advertising in newspaper/workopolis etc.
After checking the advert (which was ditto copy of company's job requirement), I found it strange to have "gmail" email address for application.
I asked the acquaintance to apply for the position and warned not to respond to any emails or links to complete online application (specifically that asks for SIN & DOB). Meanwhile, I checked with the company if they did have any openings and drew their attention to the advert. They said it was a hoax/phoney ad and could not stop laughing at the starting wage.
I did some research on this further ...
This is the job posting http://toronto.craigslist.ca/mss/csr/539636123.html
On Clicking "We Would Like To Hear From You" hyperlink on the advert, I was taken to this website: http://www.sasamanagement.com/usaircsa" rel="nofollow">LINK
I checked the company's website http://www.sasamanegement.com" rel="nofollow">LINK ...and there is no information about it. What kind of a company is this that says noting about what it does and where it is located. all the job ads on this website have "gmail" address....and WHOIS search on the IP address of the company suggests that this company is located in Singapore..(and surprisingly has all job postings in the US/Canada)
Seems like Identity Theft scam.
