send us the details of your client and consultant details (PM), will try to enquire if they have any bad remarks posted in any of the sites..
Actually you could do by yourself by googling their info.

the best bet is contact the client directly, send them an email (preferable to the manager who is going to hire you).

I agree with the above posters that what you wrote sent up red flags. DO NOT pay. IT sounds like someone is trying to scam you out of money.

However having said that I dont recommend that you write the name of your consultant or client here. Why? You, or CD can be sued for slandering someone's name in public.

Im very leery of someone offering you a hospitality industry job at $24 per hour. EspeciallY WITHOUT an interview. There are many hospitality jobs - particularly in Vancouver and Toronto however the labour market research that I have done (and I am in the vocational field) shows that most jobs especially entry level are at 8-10 dollars per hour.

This is why the industry has a high turn over rate - due to the insufficient salaries ..including managers receive.

If you wish to come to canada...go the immigration route. Due to the demand for hospitality professionals you may wish to consult with someone in immigratgion regarding points for your profession.

good luck and keep ur eyes open

Hi Tammana,

I think you shud count yourself lucky that you have'nt paid anything to this
so called consultant..my suggestion would be, dont bring additional stress on
yourself and end all dealings with this guy.. like they say, when in doubt, chuck it out..

I appreciate all the posts and thank you.

Let me elaborate more on it. Consultant not gave full address of the employer, just the name of the Hotel, as he said there are more than 8 branches in the city so I may get any one of them.

Secondly, he hasn't asked for the money directly to me. He said employer want him to give security of CAD 1500. Employer gave the reason that may be I will not turn up or default. I offered him that If I will pay the amount as a security deposit, will that work for him.

He told me that now a days a lot of desis file their application and when employer is done with everything, they dont turn up or default.

I know the name of the employer but not the contact details. I am not sure if I will ask the consultant about it, will be impolite or ???

If somebody can enquire about him on my behalf, please contact me on my email as I do not know how to contact personal email through CD (as posted by mkannuri). mkannuri, I would have contacted the employer / HR person but I don't have the details.

Also, morning_rain please elaborate more on the immigration route as I am not aware of it.

Hi Tamanna,
First and farmost is never ever pay money to anyone, as north american culture does not entertain this process.
Every head hunter/recruiter get's paid by the client after selected candidate stays for more than 3months at the client place.
(this is true in IT for sure).
May be there are some back doors where u have to pay to get job, but this is not the case with qualified people.

As far as my understanding, its the consulting company that is going to send their offer letter, not the client(xxxxx Inn).
Because, none of the clients ask for money in return of employement.
Bottom line is dont pay money, just keep applying directly for the firms/clients directly who takes on merit/qualification.

Mean while i will put on a word with my friends in hotel industry regarding this consulting firm and recruiting details about XXXX Inn.

PS: offer letter/Work Permit does not cost money unlike H1B in USA (INS fees)...Hence even if the employee did not accept, client is not loosing anything as he is not paying anything to governement for processing.
CD's please correct me if i am wrong.

Wish you good luck and feel free to ask any questions to CD's.
rgds
Madhu

Btw..i am just curious to know why did you use "GIRL" in your subject?...
If your intentions of getting attention, then dont worry...we have wonderful CD's advise/help irrelavent to AGE/SEX/NATIONALITY..
I guess you might have saw your PM's from our fellow CD's responses.

Anyway..good luck and try to use the immigration route and take advantage of the employement and other benefits.
That is apply for PR..it might take few years but its safe and good way of landing without being caught by these cheaters..
btw i am assuming you have no rush and had qualifications to get minimum points.

Please check http://www.cic.gc.gov" rel="nofollow">LINK for details

cheers :-)

Hey TAMANNA,

Go for Canada immigration. then you can get a job on your own. You don't have to worry about scams and middlemen.

No one gets a job like what you have been told by the consultant. It's hard to believe.
