The figure would be close to 99% for India. That is because Indian does not have an immigration policy, whereas in Canada you get close to 1% of population coming to Canada, every year, as immigrants. So it is pertinant that you should find a healthy mix of "recent immigrants" in managerial positions.... though technically majority of all Candians are immigrants.
Besides, I would hate to see Reservations here also. No mater what kind but I dont like such Reservations be it religion/race/region ...
So many times I read "Help your desi brother/sister" - I am all for help but not just because one is desi. Actually its a Turn-Off for me at times.
On the Shop floor, you may see lots of Desi. But it could be possible that Management looks at Desi population as Hard Working (In fact we are). Most of the desis will suck up anything & everything, no on-the-face complains.

Also there is the issue of life-work balance. I assure you that there are many desis who have had the opportunity to take on bigger roles in a company but did not because of life-work issues.

Hello Everyone:
I have been working in Canada for last 6 years and have worked in quite a few places. Every company I work for, it seems like there are a few white managers and some white full time staff and rest mostly temp immigrant staff. In a typical company which has 85% immigrant employees, there are hardly 5% immigrant managers. Why are we not given a fair treatment. I think the reason is because we dont stand up for it. I have long been thinking of making an assosiation where problems like these can be discussed and highlighted one company at a time with volunteer help. If we gather enough support we can also pressurize local politics to change the scenario. All I am asking for is your support and one day in a month where we organize some demonstration regarding such problems. Give me your opinion. Number of replies would suggest how much support we can gather.
Thank You
Amit
