Hi Guys ,
My Husband has been looking to get a foothold in the Alberta job mkt .
Being a non professional person and being in Toronto , it has been very difficult .
Though we have applied to alot of O&G companies (where his exp lies ), we have not received a single positive reply .
I chance to glace on this Advt about a The national job fair which has a special section on Alberta recruitors .
So guys out there, who have done these Fair before ., Please Advise us , if we should place any hope in things working out here.
Would it be worth losing a Day wages over this fair .
Thank you in advance .
regards

Advice is free – lessons I charge for!!
I completely agree to what Chandreshbhai said. From my experience it was not worth it too.
Not worth it. We used to go when we were students and get lot of free stuff.
Most of the time its not worth to attend Job Fairs.
But again it depends what u expect from such Job fairs. Don't expect u will get job by attending such Fairs.
Go there, target ur companies, don't go to each & every counter & collect Free stuff.
Try to speak at least 2-3 people from ur field & take Visting cards & follow them in coming days
Somewhere u will get link at some place & finally u will land up with proper job
Jenny, R U in Alberta. Just checking as u says non- professional.
As Alberta is better for Technical & skilled Jobs only
what is your spouse's occupation?

Job fairs are only good for entry level positions.
If you are looking for a financial RRSP processing position, please do visit these fairs. Tons of jobs available right now as they hire for RRSP season, and you might get permanent and move up the ladder.
Don't know if such jobs are available where you are though.
Also Aditya Birla Minacs had its official launch today in Mississauga. This is a BPO unit currently employing 300 people and looking to up its work force to 1000 by next June.
