Hi Trinity and Maharaj,
When you got a letter from them, did they ask you to resubmit any documents? like financial statement, etc?
I submitted mine last Aug 2005, and received an acknowlegment letter sep 16, 2005..I checked e-cas using my client number( I also applied for a canadian citizenship) and I have an update there about my sponsored relatives, it says decision made(canada)..and that they started processing Sep 21, 2007 and also mailed me a letter sep 21, 2007 for the decision.
thanks,
Bette
Hi Bette,
I was not asked to re-submit any documents and my approval was done based on my intially submitted documents.
You should be getting your approval letter before the week is over.

Trinity ... What do you mean by Hopefully it should be all done in the next 6 to 8 months? Are you expecting to get Visa in 6-8 months?
And Bette ... no I didnot get any letter to re-submit anything from my side. Letter clearly stated that I suffice all requirement and it is approved.
Maharaj,
If I happen to be in the "lucky" 30% category, I think the visa should be issued in the next 6-8 months. Of course, it can stretch to 4 years too... and the wait continues...
Have you posted your docs to India?

Application for PCC
I have a question that may be relevant for this discussion. A friend of mine got his parents sponsorship approval last week. Coincidentally, they are visiting him in Toronto. Can he apply for the police clearance certificate through CGI Toronto? He tried calling up the Indian Consulate for 2 days continuously and nobody picks up the phone (expectedly). The CGI website also does not say anything about this. The question is whether visitors to Canada can apply for the PCC or is that service only available to immigrants/PIOs/OCIs?

I know of a recent case (about 5 months ago) where in a person with Indian citizenship with a work permit in Canada (temporary visa) applied for and obtained an Indian PCC from the Indian consulate in Ottawa (by post mail and phone - no visit was necessary).

file number
I sent my application for parent's sponsorship in August 2007 and couple of days back I got a letter from CIC acknowledging that they recieved my application and that there is a long wait for parents simmigration to get through, so they asked to be patient on the processing time.
There was no file number on it or any such thing. When do we get a file number?
Thanks
Peace

Extrapolating the current processing times (from the last 1 year which I have been tracking), your file should get processed in about 25 months from now (November 2009 or so). But I think, CIC will try to speed it up as the backlog is huge. You will get your file number (eClient will also get updated then - not before) at the same time.
