I was wondering if I could get some suggestions and advise from kind hearted persons in regards to some kind of dilemma I am facing these days.I met with an accident few weeks back.I had hit a BMW car from behind at Dupont St. of Toronto. There was only little or negligible damage to the vehicle. It war run by a gora.
I never received any communication from my insurance company. But yesterday I received a letter from TD Insurance which is insurer of the other person. They have suggested to call them(TD Insurance) back in this regard.
I am clueless about what should I do?Does this affect my auto insurance premium next year?I am a new driver with 3 star driving record as per insurance company.I never got a traffic ticket.
I was not given any traffic ticket and police was not called on the spot.Though I apologized for the mistake on spot and offered settlement. But the other person never called me back as was agreed upon that time.
Suddenly I find myself in this tight spot.
Should I call TD Insurance?
Should I call my auto insurance company?
What could be the effect on my auto premium next year on renewal?
I shall appreciate someone sharing their experiences in this matter and provide invaluable suggestions.

Samit,
It is unfortunate that you got into such a sitaution like this.
Once there is an accident, the victim (the person who is not at fault) normally calls the insurance company fron the accident spot and then he takes your insurance / license info. etc.... He also should inform you what action that he is going to take. And if he had said that he was going to Insurance, you should have called up your insurance company ASAP. Now 3 weeks have gone by. The police will not invole itself in the matter as the damage was less than $1000.
What you should now do is to call your insurance and explain what happened. They will tell you the next steps and ask you if you are at fault. If you admit your fault, then they will tell the next steps. When you call up your insurance, tell them about the Gora's insurance company and ask if you should speak to them. If you admit that it was your fault and a payout is made from your insurance company, then your rates will go up next year proportionate to the payout (Normally).
OTOH, if there were no witnesses, you could deny the whole thing or put it as his fault (normally in Insurance business , it is the fault of the rear ender - that is you in this case)
All the best in sorting out this matter and this is a bitter lesson for you in Canada.

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Thanks TK Saab very much.
When the incident happened suddenly out of blues one lady came and gave her business card to the other person to be used as witness(again one gora).
Should I call my insurance first or the other person's insurance?

You have rear ended a vechile. It is 100% fault to your account. You can go Finance Services of Ontario website and look at Fault Deterrmination rules. Insuance companies follow these.
Also, if the other insurance co has called you that means you have your provided the insurance details to the Gora.
It is strange to me that why the other insurance company (TD) is calling you. TD should talk to your insurance company instead of you.
The other party might have lost my insurance details which I provided on the spot.

If that is the case then do not even call the other insurance co. Otherwise also, you should not talk to other party insurance company as they will try to sequeeze you to the benefit of their client.
Thanks Desi#1 for your input.I got another letter today from the other person's insurance company.Next week I am thinking of contacting my insurance company.
