I did find Perley's map book very useful. I treat it as my Driving Bible, always carry with me in my car. If you are landing in Toronto, buy one which cover whole GTA (Greater Toronto Area). I think 2004 edition will cost around C$ 30.00, I am not sure though.
Thanks and regards.

There are two most common street directories - map books - used in toronto. One is by Mapart and second is Pearleys. I personally prefer mapart since it is more pleasing to the eyes and shows a street like a street (two lines with different colours fillings depicting major/minor/Highway/side street etc.), and not like a bold or thin line only. The normal cost is 19.95 but presently the 2004 edition available in Sam's club for $11 only.

Guys --
Are these maps available in the US or for order over the Internet?
I will be driving from the US into Canada and as yet have no idea where I will be staying and looking for a job.
I will prefer to have a comprehensive map book with me, especially for driving.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

If you have AAA you can get maps, tour book absolutely free from any AAA centre.Good thing is Canada also treat AAA just like CAA ..so you can get all AAA benefits here also(car rental,Road side assistance ,maps, free traveller check etc etc)..if you don't have AAA apply for it ASAP
Thanks

Yeah, that's a good idea.
But I don't have AAA and never felt the need for it.
I get roadside assistance free through my car manufacturer and they have been pretty reliable so far.
Would you say CAA is a definite "must-have" in Canada?
I have been planning that I will install the full version of MapPoint on my laptop before I move and that way I will always have access to the latest maps while driving.
Of course, it is slightly uncomfortable to work on the laptop, use a phone *and* drive at the same time - but I am getting better at multi-tasking
Jokes apart, what do you think about the MapPoint idea and about CAA?
Thanks.
