Before I came to Canada in 1998, when I was in Bangalore, I would attend a lot of concerts but it was mostly that of local wannabe rock artists who would butcher the originals so bad that I gave up and decided to stick to my tapes till the day I'd be able to attend concerts of THE original artists.
My musical taste is very varied but predominantly leans towards classic rock. It is so because contemporary artists seem to be driven by what the producers want to sell and musically there's been little innovation. Breakthru artists that are able to sustain the tests of time are very few and often times fizzle out after a single or maybe after an album at most.

After I came to Canada I realized my dream of watching some of the revered artists live and enjoyed every single second of it. Loving life...thru music. Here are the concerts I have attended so far (I have saved the ticket stubs :) ):

Van Halen (Molson Amphitheatre)
Ozzy Osbourne (Copps Colliseum, Hamilton)
Pearl Jam (ACC)
Jethro Tull (Molson Amphitheatre)
Supertramp (Molson Amphitheatre)
Slayer (Guvernment)
Eric Clapton (ACC)
Counting Crows (Molson Amphitheatre)
Live (Molson Amphitheatre)
Remember Shakti (Zakir Hussain, John McLaughlin, U Srinivas) (Roy Thomson Hall)
Jagjit Singh (...did not enjoy...this is the only exception) (Roy Thomson Hall)
Asha Bhonsle and the incredibles (Rogers Centre)
A R Rahman (ACC)
Pandit Ravishankar and Anoushka Shankar (Roiy Thomson Hall)
The Tea Party (Copps Colliseum, Hamilton) (...opened for Ozzy...)

I long to see many more artists in concert but sometimes circumstances don't let me...

The best concert I saw was Remember Shakti. It was just stupendous!!! Which was the best you saw?

Many fellow CDs (Investpro in particluar) seem to enjoy going to concerts. We should hook up and form a group of concert goers...

You certainly missed one of the best ones....Tom Petty at the Molson Amphitheatre last year.
Was amazing !
When was the Ozzy one that you went to ?
Or was it a performance at an Ozzfest or something ?
I also regret having missed the Heaven n Hell tour with Dio earlier this year.
It's surprising that you don't have Def Lep on your list.
They have played atleast a couple of times at the Molson in the past year or so....
Also, I wonder why you missed Aerosmith ???
Jethro Tull and Van Halen are cool...
My taste also leans towards classic rock....
It's a pity Led Zep doesn't play anymore....I have a few tickets for the 28th of July to a downtown club that plays Led Zep (I have seen them a few times and they are REALLY good!)
They are supposed to play Led Zep 2 and Led Zep 4 in their entirety. (I have seen them perform these albums seperately, but not on the same night, and they seem to know what they are upto).
I am not sure if I can spare a couple of tix, but will let you know if I have spare ones....

Also, are you fond of Johny Cash ?

Damn! Tom Petty...he is on my list of all time favourites. What a consistent musician eh? Album after album...each one's awesome.

I saw Ozzy a few years back actually. It wasn't part of Ozzfest. I am not a huge fan of that festival...don't like most bands that show up for it.

I followed Def Leppard till Pyromania and Hysteria. They turned too pop-ish after that...no?

Aerosmith...yes, need to see them once before I keel over.

I don't think anyone on this planet can duplicate Zep, but I get what you are saying. I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Do keep me posted.

Johnny Cash is the only country artist I like...and I liked him even before the movie came out to be honest. A lot of my friends jumped on the wagon after the movie. It was akin to everyone talking about "Pinot Noir" after watching "Sideways".:)

That is one enviable list.

investpro - I bow to thee.

That said, you have seen Hendrix live? Must have been a REAL long time back?

Yeah mynameisraj,

I am a real old guy which is why I am into old folks music aka classic rock.

Long time ago I came to NA and schooled in a US secondary school and then a US university.

Anyway, regards Hendrix - I saw him winter 1969-1970. The best f""king concert ever! Some of his finest jamming including "Star Spangled Banner" right during the 'Nam war. You can imagine the crowd!

Them days the Fillmore East and Fillmore West were the concert venues besides MSG (Madison Sq Garden). First saw the Stones there when Mick Taylor of John Mayall replaced Brian Jones. Also saw them there in 72 when Mick Jagger celebrated his 29th bday.

here are more I have seen

Alla Rakha and Ravi Shankar
Joe Cocker
Joan Baez
Queen
Peter Paul and Mary
Allman Brothers
Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart
Bruce Springsteen.
Tina Turner
Prince
John Mayall Blues Band
Johnny Winter
Jerry lee Lewis
James Brown

Maybe it would be better if I wrote whom I haven't seen.

The Beatles together
Aerosmith (surprisingly)
Judas Priest
Oh well will continue some other time.

Led Zep's great drummer John Bonham is no more. That said, way back in the 70's I saw only Jimi and Robert jam with some Indian musicians at Slip Disc, Mumbai next to radio Club. Amazing! sans Jones and Bonham

They stopped playing as a band when Bonham was no more.
Are you referring to the "note for note cut for cut" discographies that Q107 announces on its radio. Some of them are pretty cool. I have seen some do Led Zep, Beatles and Pink Floyd. As a matter of fact among the guys who do The Pink Floyd cover is a South Asian dude.
