Hmmm .... very interesting read. Is it true though, the writer is suggesting to spend more than to save, to be economically growing? Your opinions?

Japanese save a lot. They do not spend much. Also Japan exports far more than it imports. Has an annual trade surplus of over $100 billions. Yet Japanese economy is considered weak, even collapsing.

Americans spend, save little. Also US imports more than it exports. Has an annual trade deficit of over $400 billion. Yet, the American economy is considered strong and trusted to get stronger.

But where from do Americans get money to spend?

They borrow from Japan,China and even India.Virtually others save for the US to spend. Global savings are mostly invested in US,in dollars. India itself keeps its foreign currency assets of over $50 billions in US securities. China has sunk over $160 billion in US securities.

Japan 's stakes in US securities is in trillions ......

The GDP is the primary indicator used to gauge the health of a country's economy. It represents the total dollar value of all goods and services produced over a specific time period - you can think of it as the size of the economy.

Basically to measure the GDP, the calculation can be done in one of two ways: either you add up what everybody earned in a year, or you add up what everybody spent. Logically, both measures should arrive at roughly the same total.

I disagree with the word 'freely' in the following statement:-
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The US has taken over $5 trillion from the world. So,as the world saves for the US, Americans spend freely
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You cannot spend freely if the money has been borrowed, but you can if it has been earned.

I think earning and spending makes country's economy to boom rather than borrowing and spending.

I will always follow the following cycle

Earn-->Save--->Invest--->Spend

US is 1/5 of world GDP. It is 5 times India GDP and 1/3 the population . That makes it 15 times as rich as India in simple terms anyway.
US has 12 Trillion dollar economy now more than twice the size of its nearest competitor.It is the biggest consumer in the world and the biggest market. One of the major reasons for its power and it is so well managed that everybody invests in US$ and wants to have reserves in it.
