Here is the job description :
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Support and maintain an IBM AIX micro partitioned server infrastructure that hosts multiple web-based applications. The major application components of this infrastructure consist of WebSphere and DB2.
Monitor system health to ensure that service levels are met.
Troubleshooting and rectifying system errors.
Performance tuning, performing system upgrades and modifications.
Provide technical assistance to the CDS INC. Development team or other departments, in building effective infrastructure solutions for business requirements.
Effectively manage system capacity and performance elements to optimize usage and costs.
Implement and review standards for the maintenance and control of the system infrastructure
Additional responsibilities will include issue tracking/reporting, initiating automation, knowledge transfer, tools provisioning, and maintaining the accuracy and currency of documentation. This position will also include on-call and weekend work in an extended hours environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
A university degree or equivalent post secondary qualification in Computer Science or a related discipline.
In-depth knowledge of Open Systems Web based systems architecture.
5+ years in-depth-working knowledge in system programming, IBM WebSphere, AIX and DB2.
2+ years working knowledge of IBM pSeries utilizing micro partitioning and LPAR technology.
2+ years experience with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager and enterprise SAN storage.
2+ years of Java debugging and support of Web based applications.
Strong working knowledge of scripting languages like sh, csh, bash, ksh, perl, etc.
Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail and quality.
Capable of prioritizing and managing multiples tasks in a high demand operational environment with diverse teams.
Able to effectively facilitate and gather input from multiple sources to resolve issues and the ability to own a problem from inception to completion.
Ability to lead other team members in developing operating standards and practices.
Excellent problem solving and mentoring skills.
Excellent documentation and communication skills.
