Looks like even foreigners in India had to adopt local cultures.
The Parsi refugees from Iran landed in Gujrat in 1599 and approached the local king, Jádi Rana, and requested asylum. The ruler, fearing for his kingdom, asked them to explain their beliefs, and made four other stipulations for granting asylum:
they were to adopt the local language (Gujarati)
their women were to wear the garments of the local women (the Sari)
they were to cease to carry weapons
marriages were only to be performed in the evenings (as the Hindus do)
The refugees, accepting the demands, expounded on the teachings of their faith, and "when the Hindu Raja heard the oration, his mind regained perfect ease." Having been granted asylum, the emigrants established the settlement of Sanjan (Gujarat), which was soon flourishing.

great idea. then in canada there is gay/lesbian marriage too. we should follow them - man looks for male and ladies looks for female -Girls wearing topless, shorts, and roaming in the bar whole night and doesnt know the father of their kids. who would like their wife/daugter/mother to follow this culture - in order to look canadian. Does that you mean.

Loser seemed to be giving an analogy based in India about expectations to assimilate to a local culture/custom such as people often hear/experience in North America.
Gay/Lesbian marriage - a matter of personal choice but are you aware of the Naz foundation ?? This is an gay rights outreach group that is based in Delhi and/or Mumbai? India has a gay magazine called "Bombay dost" ? Campaign for lesbian rights in India? What country made the movie "Fire" Was it Canada or India???
Second - I have lived in Canada my entire life in three different provinces and visited almost every other one and have not yet seen a topless woman in public. Of course there are nudist beaches. If you frequent those, then you will see nudity!
Third - Are there no bars/clubs in Delhi/Mumbai/bangalore/etc etc?? Are they all men that go there? are these gay bars ?
Please do not write about things unless you are prepared to back them up.. Do you live in this culture? DO you make your money here?
and pray tell why are you hung up on wives/daughters/mothers?

Can you please take this ultra-conservative crap elsewhere? Who the hell asked you to follow gay/lesbian marriage? huh? Seriously. Get a life. There's an old saying that goes "When in Rome, be a Roman". I guess you took that literally as well? (Based on a big assumption that you had even heard of this). You are so ignorant it is because of you guys that we other desis get a bad rap. Ughhhh!
If the saying do as Canadians then first of all you guys should learn the lesson from Goras how to live in a peaceful society. and Pls for God sake leave all those DIRTY MENTALITY/HATRED back home before stepping in a cultured world. This is a discussion site so do not provoke racist and hatred between each other . ITs time for your guys to grow up and learn a lesson from goras and stop the hatred of what your politicians and society has taught you and leave it those those illeterate people back home.
