My husband and I are closely following the shilpa story too...it really is upsetting to see what she is tolerating..what is more upsetting is that channel 4 ( who are broadcasting it, are still airing the show and/or are not evited the 3 remaining bullys).
Personally i believe, it is pathetic 'playground' bullying AND ignorance, Racism? im not sure, maybe to a certain degree ( however, husband..a patriotic Indian stongly believes its racism).
Being a British born indian...I have personally complained to Ofcom,
I am embarrassed for the UK. I do hope though that shilpa stays strong, maintains her cool as she is and wins...she is an ambassador for india, and is doing a fantastic job....MAN, SHE IS STRONG ...

Oh and do they know that shilpa is a karate black belt , has underground mob connections and do they have any idea of the population of india..if it came to that? THEY ARE DEAD (AHHHHH IM SO ANGRY

Yes, it is important to see the flip side of the coin..but also consider that
a) shilpa knows that her audience is predominantly 'white' ( and is probably being clever about her statement)
b) the things said about her, are said BEHIND HER BACK

Being an Indian born Brit myself, I couldn't agree with your two above statements more. The 3 woman are not going to know what hit them when they get out of that house...
The other 3 women on the show will never be able to live this one down - they'll always be known to the world as the racist bigots.
Personally, even though the comments made to Shilpa may not be viewed as overtly racist to some, I think that they are still damaging to a person and hurtful and nobody should be treated or spoken to that way. I think the comments are racist, after all, none of this would be happening if she was a white Brit herself.

In the show, Shilpa claimed "I represent my nation".
Was she really sent as a national representative ?
I did watch the show in bits and pieces, by no means her performance reflected anything even close to the respectable Indianism among the women I've happened to observe in my life, instead it was quite evident that she was shying away from her background in many instances of the show.
Esp., she was making faces when she expressed the following " You know I can't stretch my legs to sleep towards South, because South represents holy places in Hindu culture (make faces, roll the eyes, hesitate) ...". At last, what is wrong in saying that why such hesitation. Either she shouldn't have quoted this or if she had, she should've asserted boldly.
And now, there is a whopping number of people to support her, Aren't we just venting our frustration this way in place of really supporting what she went through. By no mean I justify the bigotry she went through and it does boil my blood but the subject was seeking to bail out apparently what we think she stick to .
Shilpa, I am with you for you went through but not for you were trying to represent.
