I came to Canada from Mumbai and in Mumbai the cost of a house in say Borivali is 1/3 the cost of a house say in Bandra. Some of the reasons why that is 1) Better water supply 2) Better quality of roads etc

Now a detached house which will cost 400K in Mississauga can be had for 280-300K in Brampton WHY?

Its not like India where there is water/electricity problems etc in some areas and not in other.

What are the factors that make houses in brampton cheaper than Mississauga or even Oakville or Milton?

I live in Mississauga and I choose it for convenience near to highway 401, 410, 403, QEW and if you want to pay then 407. There is only express connecting Brampton i.e 410 that is cloged between Monday to Saturday. Connection to Downtown is aweson via GO. There are many other factors such as shopping centres, composition of communities living in there etc etc.

This definitely is a Huge Advantage. I am on the NE of Brampton and I work in Toronto so dont need to use 410. It actually is advantageous as I dont even need to drive beyond West of HWY 427. 403 now has a HOV lanes - for car poolers (I still miss those days).

Mississauga Transit is better than Brampton.

Quality of City - not much to choose from. They both are under same Peel Region Umbrella. Difference is not as much as between Borivali & Bandra ... or Mira Road & Borivali.

I think Price Difference (lil more than 100K) played Major Role in my case. As you said, Mississauga does not come cheap. It was way too much for what I was looking.

When I did a research on ratings of schools, Mississauga schools were far ahead in general in terms of rating as compared to schools in Brampton. Another reason why families would choose Mississauga.

Google the Frasier Institute reports for school ratings in Ontario.
