We are moving into a new house. There is no space for the puja room in the ground floor. Is it okay to have the puja room in the first floor? Please advice, i'm very concerned!!! Thanks!!!
Make sure its facing East or North.

Different people have different interpretations.
My mother used to say the god face should be towards the first sun rays in the morning which is South.

Desi #1, sun rises in east . Infact the god's face should never be facing south as that is considered facing "Yamraj's house". Incidently whenever someone dies , they are kept south facing as that is the entrance to Yamraj's house.

TK ur right..... but Desi # 1 is saying the first ray's of sun....... now the tilt to south would happen after sun rise . And i hope you remeber that this tilt to south is seasonal. It varies from summer to winter months.
Sun is tilted south during winter days when you need sun most. During Summer you would like to avoid sun that is tilted north.
According to me Vastu Shastra is related with pure science. Now things those are applicable in India should not be applicable in North America as it is. For example - in India the rain comes from East - Bay of Bengal. The wind blows in certain direction during summer and in the opposite direction during winter. This affects where you keep different rooms.

South is a big NO NO for keeping Puja room for sure.
