You bet. Retrogression is the key. Might as well come and earn time towards Canadian citizenship. Though in my case that would mean living away from spouse and kid and home since I have a house in TX and my wife is enrolled in a professional program here. Hope to commute back and forth once a month or couple of months or so.
Plus it seems Detroit is the only Metro area so close to the border. Buffalo may be close but its small with few corporate jobs. Seattle is too far from the border for daily commute.
Not aware of any big cities so close to the border.
How much average daily commute one should expect?
Other thing is if only husband stays in Windsor to accumulate time towards citizenship and eventually gets it, can the wife and kid apply for citizenship afterwards. Assume that in this case they did not complete the stay requirements.
Nishad,
I dont think wife will qualify for citizenship. However you can include your wife and kid when you file canadian taxes as a canadian resident and there is a good chance you can prove strong ties to Canada and retain spouse's PR. However time wont count for citizenship if you go by the book.
Not sure about kid. I believe last year they passed a law that if Canadian citizens adopt a child the child will automatically get citizenship so logically speaking once you become citizen child should also, but im not 100% sure.

I recently read an article in local Windsor newspaper online that because of auto plants closing Windsor has the highest unemployment rate in Canada. Is that really true ?
I know most CD's who live in Windsor commute to Detroit, USA to work so doesnt really affect them. However I am just surprised to hear that statistic. I would have thought being so close to US border unemplyment rate would be lower not higher.
