just so you know TK.. a lot depends on how the dynamics is.. where I used to work before.. it was a small team and a lot of times we even nicknamed each other based on quality of work .. I was called a codeStealer after I gave someone a quick solution based on something we downloaded over internet..
that's first thing.. secondly.. even assuming he was doing it because he assumed you would take bullying due to your color, demeanor or whatever.. you have certainly conducted yourself okay.. so why keep harping on supposed "insult" as you see it.. the way I read it.. the guy was obviously under pressure and snapped.. I have snapped a few times at my sub-ordinates and then came back also.. that's the nature of business.. I think this is total PC crap and victimhood mentality that makes every minority see everything thro' the prizm of supposed discrimination.. kinda reminds me of that scene in Seinfeld where Jerry's uncle keep stressing "Cook is Anti-semite coz he forgot to add cheese to the sandwich":)
Take a deep breath..
More importantly if you are that easy to be provoked .. you are an easy read.. anyone can make you out to be a trouble-maker by just calling you a "brownie" or Curry muncher or something similar .. and you loose your temper and you loose.. remember the head-butt in world -cup..
Most of the times living large and getting things done are the best revenge.. you don't have to roll-over and take it.. (even assuming it's coming from plainly racist guy like that senator who said Maccaca) but don't loose head and make matters worse for yourself..
There's that way.. every time you think someone insulted you, your culture , your god or whatever.. come on the steet.. burn flags etc..
or there's right way.. be firm, be polite and make sure you get your due and say and do things on your terms and not as reaction to someone..
Didn't mean to write big msg. but I see this tendancy in a lot of FOBs and it's counterproductive.. right from WASPs in New York to Muslims in Pakistan.. everyone has a reason and will see someone "coming after them" it only makes your life miserable and your thinking warped..

The fact is that someone HAS said something unacceptable and unprofessional and should realise his mistake . At the same time the offended person should get back what he feels he s lost ie self respect .

I am sure he has not apologised enough or TK would have been satisfied . If I were in TKs shoes and would have felt the wrong I would have demanded a written apology and reported the matter to the parent company with side notes of taking the matter to the court if written apology is not received .

This way would be pacifying as it depends upon our senstivity as to how much we are hurt . Imagine if it were the other way round !!!

Most of the times standing upright discourages the offending party to repeat its mistake.

Its a one off incident for which he has apologised for being a jerk and promised he will not let it happen again. He also has the written proof of the apology. As such i dont think you currently have a case.

I think because he has aplogised all the more strengthens the case as he has admitted he has done a wrong. On slapping someone and then apologising the offence is not revoked . Plus I dont think he has apologised in the most appropriate manner.

hes got a written apology already. Along with an assurance that the offending behaviour will not be repeated.

Likewise on killing someone a sorry is not enough...one should go to jail or hang. This does not mean fr*k should hang or go to jail shoulsd he?

Weigh the pros and cons...on one side TK has received an apology and assurance. The guy is the bosses biggest client. If push comes to shove...who will the boss pick?

Yes if your bruised ego needs further remedy...try the courts. It will bruise the wallet and probably the career too.

Going to court because someone said "use the friggin thing we gave you"??

What's next? Going to court because the ice cream truck guy says "No, for the 17th freaking time, we don't have strawberry hazelnut Carrot ice-cream!!"....
or the store clerk says "I can't friggin accept that!" when you give him 20 dollars in loose pennies. How about going to court everytime someone says "For crying out loud!!" or "Jesus Christ!!"?

C'mon! Don't abuse the judicial system. This isn't America!

The correct way is to let the guy know that you're not happy with his comment (which in this case you did). If that does not get a retraction or an apology, send a note to his manager or his company. Get over it and move on with your life, unless you got nothing better to do!

And how did Canada and immigration come into this anyways??? Its stupid enough for me to lock this thread up or delete it altogether! If you want advice on how to deal with the situation in a rational manner, go for it. Otherwise its an abuse of this board as well to try to get advice to make a legal matter out of this (you'd have better luck scaling the Petronas tower with your bare hands...)

Are you there?
