Sennappa,
Good decision !
I would recommend you to take Location as the foremost thing.
Look at the plan. Plans with sep. access to 2nd floor / basment are good ones.
I think Terion has a list of builders who have not made good their commitments (in 1 year that the house/ bldg. was built). So look at their site.
Also Greenpark builder is a good one. Try to enquire past projects of the builder and then visit the site and speak to owners about the service. Some builders are crooks and who declare bankruptcy after a subdivision is built only to resurface with a diff. name.
The value of the house is most with stone. Then comes brick, then stucco and lastly Siding.
Real estate people of this board can advise you better.

Seenappa

Do you know of any new freehold townhome projects in Mississauga/Bramption area?

Thanks

If Etobicoke is of interest to you, there is one being constructed (and nearly finished) at Islington and Queensway.
The design is ugly and it costs around 388K. The builder is regal crest homes.
The location is prime and it would have been a good investment if themarket did not go down (right now, the market is going down)

Thanks TK,

The Tarion site is very useful. The correct website is:
http://www.tarion.com/HOME/New+Home+Builders/
There are some forums which actually discuss the merits(and demerits) of the builders. will post if i find the link.

TIMON:
The below website gives you the builders list based on location:
http://www.newhomesandcondos.com/default.asp?M=Search&ID=2

anyone else purchased from the builders, please keep it coming

Hi Cd's...
Here's an answer to the popular question...To rent or to Buy..

Why renting makes sense(unless you have 33% or 25% downpayment) Vs buying..

Please read the below article..word by word..

The article is good reading. I have only one thing to dispute with that. A lot of people use the built up equity in their home to take out a second mortgage which they then use for other stuff like buying a new car, remodelling their kitchens etc. Beyond that yes, I find it totally useless if the house increases in value.

Of courses, if you do take out a mortgage and property prices do actually head south you're in $hit.

A very interesting read.
The issue that interested me more was about the amortisation period - from 25 yrs to 15 yrs - thats a nice suggestion (depending on your budget).

Thanks seenappa for the link.
